Plant Advice

Fish Fanatic did ask for some details, presumably they would help him/her provide a better answer?

Tank size? lighting? photo period length? please?

Yes, replied to that response (which I am very grateful for!)

225l, 2x standard tubes (about 90cm long), lots of plants!

Photo period - natural daylight (not direct) then most of the evening lights on, about 6 hours.

Thanks,

M :)

The brown stuff doesn't rub off does it? Is it actually dead plant? I am not seeing much on the deficiency chart I use the most for browning like that. Usually you get pin holes and melting when the plants need co2.

Is this a newer tank? Maybe you have diatoms? When I had bad diatoms it choked out my plants and I lost a bunch.

What is your lighting, might just br a lack of fertilization, get some root tabs, swords are heavy feeders

The tank is 6 months old, nothing rubs off and the rest of the plant is alive. There is a pinhole on one of the leaves,

I would have hoped that my UV on the external filter would have prevented diatoms?

The tank has two flourescent tubes, both 24 inches. I cannot see any markings on them to indicate power, they came with the tank in the hood. It is a LAC R390 BF. From looking at similar products am guessing at 20W each tube? Is it possible to get more powerful ones?

Thanks,

M

This is always the first thing I give my plants. Low tech or high tech. Then I know for sure if I have co2 issues, because it CAN'T be fertilization issues.

Well im guessing theres no ferts in the tank so the plants wont do great, fish waste is not going to be enough. Like FF says once you give some ferts then you can rule out
