Serious Molly Issue Please Help

she's got a balloon by her anal fin.
She's been gradually dropping fry over last 4 days and im 100% pos that she's still preg and she's now got this issue


I'm even thinking is it the ballon thats stopping her and do I pop it with a fine sowing needle ??? I know it's a desperate irrational thinking but I'm getting worried now and where shes starting to get so big a couple of her scales around her belly are lifting up surely this isn't normal

Dropping fry over 4 days and the bubble since yesterday and I can see fry moving inside her

Well nothing's changed besides the little bubble has turned into 2 big bubbles to me they look like birthing sacks filled with liquid.


So I'm going to get some hate for this as a few people have said there prob wont be anything that i could do for her so i thought id try just to try and see if i could help her. I scooped her up in the net and popped the bubbles with a sterilised sowing needle ( heated the sowing needle up for 30 sec over a lighter flame them let cooled down ) as it popped shed loads of liquid come out and obv her size dropped massively and she seems happier an swimming around more than she has been but still won't eat

Keep a very close eye on what you have done, you could have potentially given her an open wound, one which is now open to infection. Try and keep your water extra clean from now on, change more water more often if it looks as if she is getting infected at all.

I've been checking her every half hour she seems ok but still won't eat she was prob open open to infection any way as it looked like anal/ birthing hole was stretched to the max

That's sad, however I cannot help but wonder if you made things worse by experimenting with surgery, even if your intentions were good. At least she is not suffering now.

I have no clue if I made things worse but she seemed to perk up after I popped the blisters. I see it that she's not suffering any more as she wouldn't eat and just kept her self hidden all the time And she must've been in pain as all her back end was stretched open and her scales was lifting up which must've been painful.
And at least she's past her genes on to her baby's and she died without any cause so to speak

I agree - you don't have a suffering fish, and hopefully the fry will be healthy and happy

Well the fry seem to be getting bigger and happy and now they are going to be off to my neighbour as he bought a new filter as he's packed up the other day and the idiot at the lfs told him he didn't need to use some of the old media and now has 16 dead mollies !!!!

Some he's had for a long time. So I'm passing them onto him as I feel for the old boy plus gives me space for my next batch I'm expecting and I'm going to keep a couple so all not in vain of loosing big mumma lol

If it were me, as cruel as it sounds, after it would have died I would have tried to save whatever fry remained inside her by Caesarean section (did that to a guppy or something when I was a kid, because she died during birthing), but the fry I saved only lived for a week.

Well, I wanted to save the fry so bad then, and I thought they were finally going to get a chance for a life, but couldn't keep them past 1 week. I think it was a guppy female that had trouble birthing. She died while having a fry tail out of her, after several hours of struggling. She also had some red under her belly so I guess something must have popped inside her.
I had a lot of guts back then, but nowadays I don't even know if I could do the same thing, which is why I didn't become a veterinarian in the first place, despite having dealt with situations where I had to save my cats and turtle / collaborated with vets. The only thing holding me back is dealing with surgery, giving shots and worst of all, euthanasia.
