Get your water parameters right and you will have them breeding in no time. If everything is ok with the water just leave them another couple of months im sure it will come in time :good:
Top one is some kinda Aulonocara species but not sure which, think its a female too.. Second pic looks a little like a Melanochromis parallelus but not 100% sure, yours could be a hybrid. :good:
Id go for a locale set-up mate with a 4x3x2, some species from likoma area or jalo reef, Nkhata bay, lions cove etc.. so many to choose from, depends on what fish you can get hold of to. Any species you particularly like?
Yeah i know what you mean, although you will be surprised at what you can have in smaller set-up's. What about a Tanganyikan set-up, they are nice fish and can get some really interesting species. I only have 240L to play with for discus but i think id be able to have a few.
Yeah try and get...
Probably best waiting then till you find something you really like. Are you wanting more haps/peacocks? Ok good well get the filter going and it shouldnt take long for the bacteria to grow.I know what you mean, when you really want something to and they dont reply :( its like eurghhh pleasee...
Got any pics? New life spectrum, cucumber, spinach, pea's, a good vegi based flake, new era cichlid pellet's. All these are good food's for malawi's :good:
Ok that's good, well the new filter with old media will be fine :).. Ooo another malawi tank maybe :P??
Well that's no surprise nearly all the girls go crazy over him lol :D..Do you not think they suit more than damon and elena??
Yep the food is brilliant :).. What new fishes you got in mind :P??
So have you got 2 filters running atm? If so yes adding some old media from one of the filter's into the new filter will be fine and the new media will pick up the bacteria fairly quick. As long as there is another 'original'...
Ahh There you go :), as Gidge says take a look there and that will help you about massively. It starts out a little difficult mate but once the main part is done (cycling) it get's easier and when you have the fish its well worth it. :good:
No worries :)
certainly got yourself a fair few fry there :hyper:.. You planning on keeping them or?
Should get them again, love mbuna my favorite fish by far.
That's your problem, the PH is shocking the fish with it fluctuating to much. Got any coral sand? If you buffer your water with what ever your using then stick the coral sand in your filter it will hold and stable the PH in your tank (plus stables the hardness of your water) :good:
Some rams or aspisto's would go nice in a 30G will be fine with your dither fish to (tetra's etc..)! The tetras usually stay in the top 1/2 of the tank anyway, where as the rams and apisto's stay near the bottom usually sorting out their breeding grounds or hiding out in a cave. :good:
I think another 7 fish in there would be fine. You got good filtration and do regular maintenance? Maybe another couple of cory's too, to make a group of 6 :good:
Looking good, looking forward to seeing it progress to :).Im wanting to start a planted tank myself, Wanting discus but im trying to find a good co2 system first. So may have to follow this thread i think, see how your's turns out :P
The couple of times i've been there to get apisto's ive always over heard her saying to people you need to test ammonia or is your ammonia high you need to test this and that blah blah. Always sounded like she's stated the obvious and you need to sort the problem out by doing this etc(testing...
