Does anybody have any tips for buying betta fish.

Buy from a reputable place

Buy ones without any sign of fin rot.

1-look for any signs of sickness, if they are sick then don't buy it
2-look for an active one
3-see if it will flare at the cup next to it
4-look for bubble nests
5-find the perfect one and buy it before anyone else

dont buy from a place that sells them in cups.

If any of them is dead, dont buy from them.

Reputation is a good rule of thumb.

Betta should be active. If theyre lying down, wait or use a mirror to have them flare. If their fins are clamped, dont buy.

If buying online, definitely reputation first, then whoever has videos as some breeders upload videos of the actual fish, then photos of bettas form. You should look for or confirm you get the fish pictured, not an equivalent.

let it just be said if they are sharing tanks with other fish don't let nipped fins put you of 1 you really like, it will grow back in no time at all
