What name should we use to Identify our fish.

Just to clarify, you're saying if someone is listing their stocking they should say: I have 2 angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare), 10 neon tetras (Paracheirodon innesi) and 6 bronze corys (Corydoras aeneus). It seems needlessly redundant and time consuming to me (with the exception, as you said...

What name should we use to Identify our fish.

Only a couple & none in captivity. They're only poisonous in the wild, due to their diet.

What name should we use to Identify our fish.

I agree, yet for poison dart frogs I feel the exact opposite. I don't know why. I don't even know the common name of most of the frogs, but I do know the Latin name.

    Why no donations?

I'm just curious why there are (virtually) no donations to this site that we all use (many of us very often). The post explaining the need for donations had 13 likes, but barely any of those people donated. I don't think the moderators/owners are rolling in dough from this site. If regular...

    Slight haze in the tank

Since both of your tanks are near the window, is it possible they are getting a lot of sunlight? Sunlight will increase the photosynthesis of plants, thereby increasing oxygen levels and the pH of your tank. EDIT: (Although, since you don't have many plants, perhaps this is not the reason.)

My dog got the cone of shame and is depressed...

I think the typical answer is "do a water change". I wouldn't worry too much. It's normal for dogs to react to that negatively. It won't be long term & eventually she'll be back to her regular mood. You could always call your vet with questions/concerns.

    10 gallon fish tank 🐠

Instead of returning it to the same store you could take it to a different fish store. Some stores will take the fish and resell it (although you won't get your money back).

    Newby help please!!!

It's not the end of the world, but it'll just take some adjusting. Your tank is pretty small. Personally, I would return the oto, loach, all neons, all rummynoses and 3 male guppies. Then buy 4-5 more female guppies. Sometimes less is more. The "Cycling a Tank" article is important to...

Choosing sand color for my 40 breeder axie tank!

You might want to move... Just kidding. Well, I "sand" (stand) corrected. Either way, black river beds are atypical.

Choosing sand color for my 40 breeder axie tank!

Exo Terra Riverbed Sand Brown: your axolotls would stilll "pop" with the high contrast and, in my opinion, black sand can look very cool but it doesn't look natural. (I've never seen a black riverbed.)

Raspberry (Razz for short). OR Rocket (because of his body shape & he sparkles like a bottle rocket).

    Blessed

Yes. I've taught 1st grade for 21 years. Still love it & my kids are great! I can only imagine how hard it is for specialsts to learn the names of 400+ kids. :)

    Blessed

That's a great moment captured in time. Far superior to egocentric selfies and people taking pictures of their meal. Plus, "Badgerling" is an adorable nickname. I sometimes give my first graders nicknames and now they all want one. So far this year it's "Beep Beep" (Emme) and "Super Joey".

Platy fish laying on the bottom of tank

This may not be the reason but he might be missing the cover he previously had. Since the lava rock and plant are gone he may be stressed. Perhaps you can put in more plants and wood/rock for him to hide behind. That way he'll feel more secure.

I really like your tank. It has a very natural look without feeling too cluttered.

Sparkling gourami in 5 gallon tank

I think the absolute smallest for them would be 10 gallons, and even that would be pushing it. Twenty gallons would probably work well. Plus, they like a well planted tank so that they can hide.

Would you or would you not run a 5k put on by high schoolers?

Thanks! :) I enjoy the biking! Knees and walking are like everything else - we take them for granted until we don't have them anymore. For the past 10 days I've had constant pain in my left knee, so going back to the knee doctor. Makes me think of things to be grateful about, things I take...

Would you or would you not run a 5k put on by high schoolers?

I had 2 ACL surgeries due to basketball injuries, so I literally can't really run anymore (in fact, doctors told me not to). I ride my bike instead now, but this is the kind of thing many people in your area should be enthused about. :)

Would you or would you not run a 5k put on by high schoolers?

I think it's an awesome idea! I would do it (if I ran) and I'm sure there are some supportive people willing to take the chance on doing it. After all, the worst they get out of it is some good exercise - the most they get out of it is helping a good cause and encouraging philanthropy among...

Thinking I Need to Rehome My Fish

You could take the ones that are healthier to your local fish store or pet shop and they may take them. At the very least, that will give you less fish to care for and worry about (and less aggression in your tank). After the ones you've kept recovered you could rehome those or keep them and...

    Population for tank capacity.

You're either married or have multiple personality disorder. Either way, I feel sorry for you. :) Just kidding. I've read 60 liters is too small for a bristlenose and they produce a lot of waste. However, I've never had them, so maybe someone else can give advice. (I pretty much just...

    Ram question

May I ask, what would be a good bottom dweller/cleaner with Rams? I've read some care sheets that show a few corydoras with their high temperature range in the low 80's, although maybe that's not intended to be long term.

    My new “old” hobby

You may already know this, but Petco has a policy that they will honor the price listed on their website at all stores. I've often bought something from my local Petco and (if you ask) they will adjust the price when you get to the check-out. You can save a little money sometimes.

Stings suck. I once was bitten by a snake (that didn't let go) in front of all my first grade students. Had to pry it's jaws off with scissors.

With the conditions for creating/sustaining life being so precise it would be very rare for life to occur, but considering the vastness of the universe there are probably millions of planets with life. But due to the size of the universe, we will never know of it's existence.

That is an interesting idea, but I believe scientists have mapped out our solar system pretty thouroughly. But, in keeping an open mind: if we were to have a sister planet, mirroring our own orbital path, that would suggest that at least some of the other planets in our system would, too...
