You dont need polystyrene under a floating bottom tank, nor will this level the tank as the polystyrene will compress equally so the tank would still be out of level.

are the cabinet feet adjustable? If not just pack each foot. A 3" square bit of ply or two would be fine.

mix their food up a bit, to much live food isn't good for them IMO. Cucumber, dried tubifex, flake, tabs etc. feed as much as they eat in 2 0r 3 minutes, they will always beg for more though. Chuck some peas in the tank they love them and will sort out any constipation.

No I think you'd get away with just butting it up to the existing. Point a good thick bead of silicone up to the existing silicone and on to where the new glass will fit, then put in the new piece of glass pushing firmly into the bead you have already pointed which should push out the silicone...

Needs to be a tight fit internally, silicone to the existing bottom and point around the edges as you would if it were the only base. Thats what I would do anyway.

looks a bit nasty, if you'r not sure about its strength get a piece of 10mm glass cut and silicone it into the bottom. To much weight IMO to not repair it.
