My neighbour is moving house, they have a tank which they used to use for lizards or something like that, it's 36"X12"X18" I think it's about 28 gallons.. But it has no lid, could I make one and if so how would I do it?

need more info really, some pictures would help!

if it was for lizards it may be a true vivarium and not water tight.

Just filled this tank I got for free and it is water tight. The tank is 36X12X18. So its just over 3 foot long..
WHAT DO I DO NOW?!

What else do you have?

Filter, lights?

First thing to do is cycle the tank.

Make sure this tank is designed for use as an aquarium, not as a terrarium as is often used for reptiles. Terrarium tanks are not designed to be filled with water, being made of thinner glass with less support. If you notice any bowing of the glass when filling I'd reconsider using it as an aquarium.

The tank has been fine so far being filled with water.. So I think it was an aquarium but they used it for lizards..

So now you need to decide on a heater, filter and a light.

If you're keeping it open topped then ensure you get fish that don't jump. It would make a great south american puffer tank. :good:
