Thanks for the reply. :) I had taken a deep breath and figured it must have come out of the intake strainer seeing as the basket had come loose. I put it back and filter is working fine. I'm just a filter-phobe! Well cannister filters anyway - they frighten me - so many bits :sad:

Have just cleaned my 204 when I set it off again the basket had fallen off the bottom of the intake tube. I put it back on but then noticed a ball floating in the water. Don't remember ever seeing a ball when I put the thing together in the first place. Has it come out of the aqua stop lever...

I have a dwarf cory with one eye. I don't know how it lost the eye but the Rams are a chief suspect. It has only had one eye for a couple of weeks now and seems fine, it feeds and swims with the other corys. I am moving them soon to a smaller tank away from the Rams though.

The dark one is called Shady - he is one of Bettaman's. The light one is called Puff, I got him from Shirley Aquatics. Hope this works! Well it almost worked...

I wouldn't expect too much from the RSPCA, in my opinion they are pretty hopeless. :( Most of their care books on animals I do know a lot about having been a breeder for many years, rabbits and guinea pigs are very poor. Its a shame they don't put more effort into this side of their organisation.

I have used Cycle and Stress Zyme which is a similar product. I know a lot of people on here think they are rubbish, but I set up two new tanks and they both cycled very quickly, I don't know whether the products helped or not but I'm sure they didn't do any harm. :)

I have my filter pushed down the tank and a vertical slate decoration diagonally across in front of the filter, this slows the current right down, the water is fairly still on the top and a gentle current lower down. The betta doesn't mind this at all and he is only a baby. :)

I recently set up an external filter on my tank. I put the filter media from the old filter into the new filter along with new media because the external filter is bigger. So far so good. :fun:
