how do you prime fluval filter 204 as i have just brought one from ebay with no instructions. Do you have to fill the cannister up with water first then push that button thingy up and down(self primer) and do you have to have the inlet pipe in the water and the outlet pipe out. Please help if you can

Tryed to find it and have failed (with google)just hoped someone might have one and give me a hint.

I have a fluval 204. You make sure the pipe which feeds the water into the tank is above water level and pump the little stick up and down, you should hear the cannister filling up, once it is full the water starts to come out of the pipe into the tank, plug it in and away you go.
edit - make sure the grey lever is pushed up so that the water can flow.

Get both ends in the water. Make sure the grey lever is set so that water can pass through the valve. Pump... pump... pump.... pump some more. When you get a siphon started, you'll hear it and can stop pumping. You'll see lots and lots of air coming out of your outlet end when that happens. Once it stops filling and stops burping air out, you can give it a few more pumps to make sure there's some water in the up-tube, then turn it on.

Priming it is a pain, but luckily you only have to do it once, so long as you close that valve before you do maintainance.

Thank's for your help all  .I will try them out tomorrow see if i can get it going. :D

p/s chkltcow where's the valve you are on about i can't find one.

the gray release handle closes the pipes on the newer fluvals na dyou cant take the pipes off without closing it off :)
