    Gourami And Crawfish?

Thanks for all the replies, life is hectic don't get to check the forums much these days =( Okay, I was mainly concerned with one eating the other, no idea if the gouramis are prone to flipping the little buggers and picking the meat out of the soft area or not, or something like that...

    Black Ghost Question

The temp would def be too high for the BGK, or too low for the Discus, wouldn't be fair for one of the fish no matter what you did. I think it's a bad idea.

    Gourami And Crawfish?

So my question is easy looking but could be very complex, hence why I am asking, and hoping it to be just a silly fear. How would crawfish do in a tank that has a couple gouramis? Namely, gold and opaline. Advice, comments? I have not bought the crawfish nor do I know where to at the moment.

    Green Water, Multiple Other Problems

Update: I did read what everyone posted, thanks a lot. I used the vac+blackout, it worked wonders. The problem with overstock kind of took care of itself, although I hate to see fish die like that, there wasn't anything I could do about it =(. The tank has been crystal clear since and the fish...

    Green Water, Multiple Other Problems

Might be a good idea to mention: I noticed one of the catfish cant seem to stay on the bottom, just kind of floats upwards. The neons are going upsidedown, I swear one is dead, only to have to wiggle like a madman and straighten back up. The last fish that died was one of the mollies, got all...

    Green Water, Multiple Other Problems

So against my set orders, while I was away my father took it upon himself to add more fish to my 26 gallon tank that was already about 2" above max capacity. His reason? Never had a problem before in any of my tanks. Anyway, the water is green. Like thick green. The fish are listing about...

    Leopard Ctenopoma

Oh wow, those look wonderful! Question, so far I've only been able to feed them flake (and they have absolutely no problem eating it) but what did you feed yours? Their coloration is magnificent! Mine are still nice colored but it's not as bold and pronounced like the ones in your pictures.

    Spoiled Oscar Fish

Oh well. He, she, whatever. If Frank turns out to be a girl well, SHE will just have to put up with a boy name! Not like it bothers Frank anyway =P Why Frank? That, I have absolutly no idea.

    Black Patches On Blood Parrot

As copy-pasted from http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/cichlid/bloodparrot.php "Blood Parrot cichlids are the only fish that can get Black spot disease. This disease is very common among parrot cichlids and displays itself as black spots on the fish. This is not normal or healthy and you should...

    Spoiled Oscar Fish

So I was wondering, since I never actually looked into this before, but how does one tell the sex of an Oscar fish? I mean for all I know "Frank" could actually be "Frankcisca" or something  Anyone able to determine the sex from that picture or is there a way I could tell?

    Leopard Ctenopoma

Yeah I took the sails off pretty quickly... I didn't like them too much  There was another ship in my LFS that was more expensive but didn't have sails, so I opted for that one and took them off myself

Remove Media From The Filter Bag?

To be on the safe side, unless instructed to remove said media, don't do it. There really isn't any harm as far as I'm concerned just leaving it in the bag. Assuming of course I'm thinking of the same thing you are

    The Kissing Gourami

The couple times I ever kept a kissing gourami the little snot would bully around my other fish a lot. Nice fish with the right tankmates, personally I am not a fan of them because of personal experience with what was possibly just two "bad eggs" in the bunch.

    Blue Crayfish

I had one a while ago, although I forget what the lfs called it. Beautiful coloration from what I remember. As with any crayfish though, make sure you have covered the entire top, they like to crawl out. No, seriously, they WILL get out if there is a hole somewhere in the top. If you've never...

    I'm Stumped...

Those are definatly raphael catfish, no doubt =P looking at your pictures an up at my tank where one just so happens to be hanging out near the front of the tank. Sounds just like a raphael catfish too. They like to hide. A LOT. Until I cleaned my tank this morning I thought for sure at least...

Would Spotted Climbing Perch Fit In My Community Tank?

These guys aren't very aggressive but watch out, they have a REALLY big mouth. Like you would be surprised. Watch the tank for a while, if he yawns, you will see what I am talking about! The tetras might become lunch, who knows? As for the PH, I was under the assumption that they liked a...

    Any Advice?

My advice isn't the best nor am I an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but... Some fish like to eat some kinds of plants, I lost three plants to a few of my fish before I figured out a kind they wouldn't munch that looked good in the tank for hiding places! As for the angelfish, I...

    Leopard Ctenopoma

I love my Leopard Ctenopomas, or whatever you want to call them  they seem to have so many different names  I currently have four Leopard Ctenopomas, ranging from the smallest being less than an inch, to the largest being about 4" long. They all get along very well together, and...

    Spoiled Oscar Fish

So, I'm thinking my Oscar fish is a spoiled brat  He is a picky eater. I put a nightcrawler in the tank and he will play with it. Semi amusing. Won't eat it unless its chopped up into bite sized bits. The other funny thing about him is he refuses to eat as long as anyone is in view of...

    Oscar Not Eating

I got the ammonia reducer to help out a bit but I have been doing big water changes quite often for a while now. The PH was a concern to me because my water usually tests on the high end but still ok for an Oscar, I freaked out because it was -too-low-. Is it strange to have stable nitrate and...

    Oscar Not Eating

Update: I tested the water. I have found my problem. I have some ammonia and my PH is, much to my surprise, much too low. Nitrate and nitrite levels are perfect, which is slightly odd in my opinion. I bought an ammonia remover to put in the filter. Just added a small portion of some hard water...

    Oscar Not Eating

Ok I would take a picture but I just did a water change and took out the big rock that was in the tank, vacuumed the gravel and put new (treated) water in the tank, so it still has yet to settle. I coaxed him into the bucket I had dipped into the tank so as not to stress him out and pulled him...

    Oscar Not Eating

That is the filter I have on the tank right now. I was previously mistaken in my post as to the exact filter. The boxes that the three different parts of the filter have the changeout cycle on them and I keep a noteboard with the next changeout dates. As for the water itself it has finally...

    Pleco And Pacu

Now this is just hypothetical. I promise I don't have either of these kinds of fish of any size, nor do I have a tank big enough to support even one small Pacu, yet. Now, first off, would a 200 USG tank be big enough for a full grown Pacu? Second and more important question, would I be able to...

    Raphael Catfish

I have three raphael catfish in my 26 USG tank currently. From what I've seen, they hardly move and like to get into any little nooks they can squeeze into. I personally haven't seen any particular time of activity for them, usually seemingly random little bursts of swimming about only to stop...

    Oscar Not Eating

The tank has been there for about a month, it already went through the cloudly water period and cleared up before I put him in. African Leaf Fish?

    African Leaf Fish?

The funny thing about him and the gouramis is that he seems more interested in trying to imitate them rather than get in a fight. Generally he will sit and watch one for a while and then swim up near it and start doing whatever it was the gourami was doing. The fish he has been chasing around...

    Oscar Not Eating

This is Frank, my Oscar. When he was very small I had him in a 26 gal tank but that only lasted for a few weeks. He was active and generally funny, doing normal oscar things. About a month ago I moved him to a 55 gal tank for obvious reasons. He is a spoiled fish and gets the tank to himself. I...
