Large wc's can't be too stressful on fish since Discus breeders do 1 or 2 100% water changes a day to get them to breed. I've never had Discus so I can't say from experience but I've heard these aren't very hardy fish.

I would do more frequent wc's. Slimey blue/green algae usually means high phosphates and nitrates.

No. rhoms will not eat anything BUT live foods at first. Sometimes up to a year in my experience. It's not spoiling my rhom to give him live foods it's keeping him alive until I can ween him off from live foods. These are wild fish, not bred in aquariums so that may be the reason they are...

If you have a poll, I would choose I'm for live feeding if others choose but not for me after I ween them. As long as the fish that is being fed isn't too large where he suffers. To each their own if it helps their fish survive.

Piranha's don't always take dead foods, especially S. rhombeus, so that's not exactly true. If he would eat frozen foods right now I'd fed that as it's much easier for me. I don't like feeding feeder fish and I certainly get no enjoyment from it since I won't watch it.

With some of the Serrasalmus, when young, they like only live foods. I've had a S. rhombeus before and it took almost a year before he would eat non-live foods regularly. This was after sometimes making him go 3-5 weeks without eating and I'd give in and feed live for fear of losing him...

There's no difference between the albino or other strains, it all boils down to the particular fish. It doesn't hurt when they bite. They don't have the pseudocanine teeth like guapotes and flowerhorns have.
