if you want something to help keep waste under control you might try putting in a snail or something like that. dont think there would be any probs with the betta and snail not getting along

sucks that you have to move it but sounds like you have worked out a good plan. make sure you put your filter media in on of the buckets also.

well there are some varieties of plecos that stay smaller then the common plec. such as the bristlenose. how small were you wanting it to be. as far as waste goes i have to mystery snails in my tank and they eat everything that makes its way onto the gravel including fish waste and uneaten food.

i have heard of lots of people running an extra small filter as a backup and i was thing of doing it when i get my arge tank. also since you have already invested in the filter you have it would be cheaper to get the smaller extra one.

how long have you had the air pump. maybe you can take that back. i think that is the same tank i bought my sister and it has a ugf. is that correct?

i have been wondering the same thing. i found a local tank shop that sells tanks amazingly cheap but stands and hoods are still abit up there. I have been looking for a cheaper alternative. thinking of building something myself. hope someone has some good ideas

When i pick human friends i like ones that are clean and quiet so i guess thats why clean and quiet fish are my fav pets. id rather vacuum gravel then change rodent cages or pick dog or cat hair off everything in the house.
