I've never tried Melafix but raising the temp and adding aquarium salt always did the trick for me. I used rid ich and aquarisol when the babies got ich.. it worked like a charm!

Oh no, no. I'll mainly use it for juvies. All my permanent residents get larger tanks. I have 32 at the moment, including the juvies. I'm taking in some from fishykisses soon though.

Nah, the worse that'll happen is that they'll flare themselves silly and end up exhausted with blown fins. But I'll be putting up a piece of paper in between all the tanks so they won't be doing that.

Don't bother with the feeding blocks. They'll muck up your water and probably do more harm than good. Your betta will be fine without any food for the weekend :) For long weekends, vacations and such, you can bring him home in a smaller container and set him up in a larger container at home.
