What's Wrong With Him?!?

Gin, my rescue VT male, is acting really weird. I was getting ready to do a WC. I put him into another container (same water). I turned around to grab some stuff and when I looked at him, he was on his side in full flare. It was almost like a betta seizure. I'm not sure how long he was like that for but when I got back home, he was swimming around again. Everytime he breathes, his gill plate opens up. His body is striped vertically as well.

Any ideas what it could be?

Bacerial or parasites, check the gills area for parasites.

Is his body striped vertically, or horizontally? Horizontally is what you need to worry about.

He might've just been very freaked out, maybe half-asleep, or something. I would think just adding a bit of Stresscoat and/or IAL would calm him down, and maybe keep the lights dimmed. =) I hope the little guy is ok soon!

He was striped veritically but he looks like he's doing a bit better today. His breathing is still a bit laboured but it's not as bad as before.

Hmm.. I'm not sure if anyone around here has IAL but I'll try to pick up some blackwater extract soon.

If IAL is not available try dry banana leaves and if it's not available just use any dry citrus leaf.
