    Impressed with Dwarf Puffer

I just wanted to say, that I am really impressed with how hearty my little guy is! I also find it cute how he swims at the side of the tank and I see him watching me; I feel I have a dog for a fish! ~Jen

UPDATE! -_- Hum..... The left over snail shells, after my puffer eats the soft snail, is growing fungi (I think it's fungi). Anyone have advice for this one? Thanks, ~Jen

    I bought a Pea Puffer

I wanted to let anyone who was interested, to know I picked up a dozen free snails from PetSmart and put them in my Puffer's 5 gal tank. WHOA! I think I'll get more! My Puffer really went wild with the snails! Puffer just sucked the snail right out of the shell! Great advice on the...

    I bought a Pea Puffer

Ohhhh, man! "Crush their shells first"... oh, really? I'll have to try the snail thing in a "little by little" type of experience before I'm comfortable crushing a snail... uugggg! :*) ~Jen

    I bought a Pea Puffer

Oh really! Cool! Even my Dwarf Puffer can eat the snails you listed; in the 5 gal tank he lives? Should I start out by purchasing a few hatchlings snails? ~Jen

    I bought a Pea Puffer

I read the, " What should I feed my puffer?" Thread after doing a search in this forum. My question is about the snails. My single Dwarf "Pea" Puffer, in a 5 gal tank, eats the blood worms just fine. My Puffer does not eat Brine Shrimp, and does not eat Flake. Watching the Puffer hunt...

    HELP: Blue Rams - M & F

 I bought two Blue Rams three weeks ago; one male one female. They were introduced into my cycled 18 gal tank together. The only other fish in the tank, before the Rams, were Albino Cory’s. The Rams were playing nicely with each other, and looked equal in flare coloration. Also, the...

    I bought a Pea Puffer

"As long as your Dwarf is not "sulking" in the corner all day, and is relatively active, there is no real need to get it some "friends".. " -He is active! I've seen him attack my Cory's with vengeance and stealth; as to enjoy the nip, “ha-ha!!” So, I will leave my Puffer-Man in his own 5 gal...

HELP: Am I having "New fish" anxiety?

I already have three tanks! I cannot afford the set up of a larger tank, or furniture; as I'd love to do! However, I am currently unemployed. I spoke with my LFS, and they will take back the Kribs, and I will ask about getting more Dwarf Puffers; thus closing the 10 gal tank down. ~Jen

HELP: Am I having "New fish" anxiety?

Ohhhh, ohhh, ohhh, ohhhh.... NO! I understand now. The 10 gal-thing was after... well now what do I do? -Give them to my ex-boyfriend with a 100 gal and see if they are going to be happy there? (With nice friendly community fish, plus we breed Kribs in this tank before with the same other...

I traded all dozen, or so, healthy Fancies!

Thanks. My thread was to be, sort of a "Good Bye Party". I like Fancies; I still check them out at the IFS! I wanted to try egg layers and see if I could breed them; like taking on a new challenge! I appreciate your support and understanding. I am a fish lover, so Fancies I will always...

HELP: Am I having "New fish" anxiety?

So, as I want to understand you: The breeding will work in a 10 gal tank, but I'll need a large male? I want to breed them in the 10 gal, as is... so I need a large male, yeah!? ~Jen

    pH level question

I've tried drift wood and peat moss in trying to lower a 100 gal tank. -Drift wood changes color of water to a nice tea brown! -Peat in the filter... seems never enough. I know, I'll end up believing the fish will adapt, as I've been told so often. I just wanted to see what else was out...

HELP: Am I having "New fish" anxiety?

Alright… Change! The Krib with the different markings (spots rather than a define body line, and more yellow fin tips) has been head up behind the filter tube or the behind the heater. Sometimes this Krib will hide in the plants out in the open. Or behind the cave-foliage where the female...

    I bought a Pea Puffer

I was under the impression they will pick on whatever; another puffer included! Also, a Member (cannot remember screen name) posted in this thread that my little guy would love a 5 gal for himself. So what's OK? Buy another puffer and have them fight? Or, let him be in his 5 gal; where fresh...

    pH level question

My tap water pH is 7.2, but after water change cycle it's 7.4. What is a natural way to lower it, I'd like it to be 6.8? (I have a Ram only tank I'd like to keep between 6.4-7.2). Rams don't like too many chemicals. Thanks! ~Jen

I traded all dozen, or so, healthy Fancies!

Before they were in a 100 gal tank that was at my ex0-boyfriend's house who didn't do changes as often because it wasn't a Ram-only tank. Now that I have a Ram only tank at my house, I follow the correct methods for the Rams. So far, after a week or so, they’re getting bigger and looking good...

I don't "Hate" livebearers! Geeze! I'm only reporting that I've moved on to other fish! Kept Fancy's for three generations to full growth! That's quite a while! Careful what you say! I've had to repeat myself for you. ~Jen

    I bought a Pea Puffer

I had gravel from all my tanks in there. I have a bucket I store the used but unused gravel in. There's that gravel in there. He's doing ok. Looks a little lonely, but purks up when I watch him. So cute! ~Jen

    I bought a Pea Puffer

I cycled the water in the 5 gal for 24 hours. Then I added an equal amount of 50% to take the place of 50% of the 5 gal, from the water from the 18 gal; where the puffer was. With that said, I took 50% of the 5 gal water out, that had been cycling for 24 hours, in order to add 50% from the 18...

I traded all dozen, or so, healthy Fancies!

Absolutely correct! Most beginners start with guppies, fall in love, talk about the fry, talk about the same sh*t over and over again. But I’ve progressed, and have found Cichlids to be an entertaining fish to keep. As if I’ve moved on beyond and to the next level of fish keeping. ~Jen

I traded all dozen, or so, healthy Fancies!

The purpose of my post was to say I no longer have Fancy Guppies in my tanks. I traded them in for a pair of free Rams. I think Rams have more personality and are fun to watch. I was able to get a pair of free rams because I took such good care for my Fancies. I came back four days later to...

HELP: Am I having "New fish" anxiety?

HELP: Am I having "New fish" anxiety?

It's well known that if two Kribs are in a 10 gal tank it is a good breeding ground. Otherwise I would have not chosen such a tank. Kribs are a medium Cichlid, and will be ok with their sides of the tanks. I understand your point, I do, but I have done research on the 10 gal breeder before I...

    I bought a Pea Puffer

Well, I came home from a motorcycle ride just now, and I saw the Puffer sneek up on my oldest Cory and nip his tail. Puffer turned to the other two Cory's and the Cory's scattered before the Puffer got near. Then the Puffer just turns and swims back to it's "hole". I think I'll have to get...

BUMP! I've read a little on the Dwarf Puffer. I will keep an eye on my puffer man, and if he get's too nippy, I will move him into a solitary 5 gal talk. I wouldn't know what else to do with him if the Puffer is too fish fin destructive. How's that idea; if the Puffer gets that bad? ~Jen
