Ive had a UCF for over 3 months and he settled in well with 7 serpae tetras and 6 danios. For about a week now he hasnt left his cave and doesnt seem to be eating. sometimes i think hes dead but hes just resting when i check. he used to be fairly active but untill recently just wont come out...

yeah see what you mean, however ive got danios in another tank. could maybe swap them over. but that would mean angels with serpae tetras and a featherfin catfish.

I have 7 serpae tets. They are constantly nipping within ranks and sometimes on the odd occasion have a go at my upside down catfish. No serious harm has ever been done to any though.

We all here the term "stunting" used hundreds of times when it comes to the housing of fish. Does it really make all that difference or is it a word people just like to use that little bit too often so they sound "a more experienced keeper" What proof has they actually been, you can see? that...

i may be wrong but i thought snails could grow from another source, not necessarily from snails already in there? plants etc?? (il let one of the experts correct me) I understand you dont or never have had any snails. but i believe you could get them. not sure about the jelly, i wouldnt say...

Hi, Its me who posted the white fur. ITs odd stuff this mopani and i thought i had researched all i could. guess not. How can you know for certain you will never get snails? do you add any chemicals? If you read my post someone has mentioned a bit about jelly in that, that you may find useful

no worries thats fine. I boiled it every day and soaked it for over a week before adding to my tank. it still leeched and now ive got this fur. Have you any fish that would enjoy this? maybe when i had my CAEs they eat it!

boiling did seem to make to make it worse your right. when it was in cold water and after a week it didnt stain the water. but the water in your fish tank is warm so it leeched. If i were to get another peice id leave it for about a month.

aye its a nightmare using a net in them tight bags. The container idea sounds a good idea actually. would save stressing the fish out.

i let the bag float on my water then at 3 ten minute intervals i add my own. then after that i add the fish to my tank. I dont let any of the LFS shops water go into mine. This has seemed to work fine everytime for me.

Nope tannin is a natural and wont affect the water tests. Thanks thats cleared that up then! (no pun) lol

This has just happened to me. Its nothing to worry about and I soaked mine for a week. Changing water daily etc and boiling it. Water changes will remove it and when you do your large change it will fine. But....If your testing your water wont the water give you false readings or doesnt this...

Thanks for the quick replies. I find it hard to believe that they could remove the browness. I personally was thinking a large water change but its not really the route I wanted to go down. Wont the wood just discolour it again?
