Just added 1 of these to my tank yesterday. What would you recommend to feed as hes not taking to flake food

dont try and feed him the same day as you got him because he will be stressed and wont eat

try feeding some catfish pellets and algae wafers

yeah i thought that as he lost a bit of colour.
which has now came back.
I will try algae wafers today. im sure he will be fine. cheers

my red finned shark eats both flakes and algea wafers and i was told that they are not fussy eaters maybe you fed him to quickly before he had got used to the tank.

It is true, they arent fussy eaters so must be too early, I use Nutrafin Sinking complete food tablets for bottom feeders so anything along them lines will be good. Sharks mouths are more facing down then straight out (hense the name bottomfeeders) so they have trouble getting at floating foods.

I recently had some red-finned shark/rainbow/ruby sharks that refused to eat anything I fed them. I just could not get them to eat at all. They all must have been sick when I got them I had insane dreams of maybe getting lucky and having them be okay with each other and maybe even breed in a 350 gallon tank. There were no aggression problems to speak of, but then they didn't have the energy to fight!

I've had other rainbow sharks that weren't fussy about food. Hopefully, yours will begin to eat soon.
