Is chlorinated tap water better to use in your tank than non-chlorinated water?  And do fish have less bacterial diseases in detoxified chlorinated tap water than never chlorinated well water? As the detoxified chlorinated water would have less bacteria when it was put in the tank.     THANX Scott

I use a Walmart  "cheap" 10 gallon tank for my fry. Like 50 fry... Mollies and platies...  A little bit of clean gravel from the drive way. And some horn wart and a potted plant... All my fry seem very happy... THANX Scott

Why is it bad to use gold fish to cycle a tank?  I cycled a 75 gallon tank with used media and gold fish and PRIME water conditioner... And some water changes... I still have all my gold fish too... But I never let my tank go above 2 PPM in ammonia... THANX

I use spring water from behind my house in the woods... No chorine... No nitrates... PH level is 7.4...  Because my city tap water has a PH of 8.4.  I only see the nitrates after the water is in my tanks. I use a test strip that tells me that my tanks are at a "high" safe level by the color on...

Should I use PRIME every time I do a water change?  Because even after a water change my tests still show some nitrates. THANX

If you have a tank that has high nitrate levels from over stocking (to many fish for the tank size)...And the nitrite and ammonia level are OK though...  Will having 2 filters which will double the media help this problem by have twice the BIO media for the good bacteria to live in? THANX Scott

I never had any real plants... I was told to put them in the tank for the fry to hide in... And it really works... I used hornwort and some of my fish eat it too... So every few months I have to add some more.. THANX

How long does it take the grow a new colony of ammonia eating bacteria in new media  that is put into a old established filter and tank? And that is replacing 1 of the media and the filter holds a total of 3.  THANX

But will the used CARBON filter media hold the ammonia eating bacteria also? As I am trying to get as much used media as possible for my new filter in my new  tank.  Also how long does it take new media in a old tank and filter to grow the ammonia eating bacteria? Plus I have hornwort plants...

Get a bunch of hornwort plant to float in your tank and you fry will survive!  It's like a big bush that the fry can hide it.  As my fry did and survived... And I have a lot of bigger fish in the same tank.

2 foam and 1 old carbon

If I take one of the media (there are 3 packs of media in this filter) out of my Aquaclear 70 filter and put it in the bottom of the same tank... Will the ammonia eating bacteria still be there in this media in 2 weeks so I can use it to start a new tank? And how long does it take to build up...

I have question about Aqueon filters??? I have a Aqueon 30 filter that has only 1 removable filter inside the filter box... If I change this 1 filter out...Does that mean that all the GOOD ammonia eating bacteria are also changed out? If so, does that mean I am back to the ammonia problem? THANX...

If I take out 1 filter of media out of my filter and put it in a plastic bag and it never dries out... How long does the good bacteria last in this filter media to use on another tank to promote good bacteria growth so I don't get ammonia problems if used in another tank? THANX Scott

THANX Say I do a water change and take half the water out of the tank... Can I add the PRIME first and then add 37 gallons of water thur a hose? And that it will mix itself as the tank fills up and it will be AOK? Or is doing a 5 gallon bucket at a time, mixed with PRIME better? THANX

Do they make a chlorine test kit? So you know the waters safe for your fish... Or just put the PRIME in according to the instructions and close enough?
