Thanks for the heads up! Everything seems pretty good at the moment, the most aggression I've seen from these little guys is during feeding! But only to each other! Actually a few of my daino's are going up to the dwarf puffers and taking there bloodworms right out of their mouths! The...

Evolution Aqua Pure Aquarium + Accelerator

Ah nothing beats getting a huge chunk of filter media from a established tank! You will be surprised how fast it will multiply in a new filter. I've had luck by just messaging people who are selling fish that have a monster tank, they usually have no problem donating big chunks of one of there...

    Gravel Or Sand?

Yeah take it in a bucket and fill it up with water, stir it a little bit then poor the water out. Keep doing this till there is no cloudiness. I mean if you are going for a planted tank then a little more sand height might be nice for your plants. So maybe 1.5 inches ~ 2 inches. Then of...

    Emergency! Please Help!

have you checked your water supply readings during this crash? Also what water conditioner are you using for your water changes?

    Gravel Or Sand?

Yeah that filter would be fine with a sand substrate(just make sure its a few inches from the top of the sand). You can put plants in without the gravel under the sand, and another good thing is that some of the fish poop can be used as fertilizer for your plants :)

    Substrate Question

Do a big water change today and retest closely in the next few days so we get a clue on whats going on. I would take out almost 75 percent of the water, just make sure the new water you are adding in have water conditioner and the temp is close to the temp in your tank. Also a reading on your...

    Do You Need Airstones ?

I mean if you like it that much, tell her its for water agitation. So it helps increase oxygen in your water so your fish are healthier! :hey: technically you aren't lying and if she wants to look it up, she can.

    Gravel Or Sand?

Only requirements you gonna need is a good gravel vacuum to suck up all the waste that seems to sit on top of the sand. You might end up like myself and do a gravel vac everyday, just too messy to leave it alone! :) Also make sure you give the new sand a really good clean ( keep filling the...

Wow! Last Week Was So Amazing, Its Time For Round 2!

Yeah I've stop dealing with fish shops for awhile now... Just look up local breeders around your area. The good thing is that you would have a higher chance of getting a healthy fish; The bad is usually its more expensive, and there might be a little wait time on the fish. (depending on...

    Some Questions...

I know there is alot of people setting up a African Cichlid tropical fish tank. mbunas, Lake Malawi, Lake Tanganyika have really colorful fishes but you need to do alot of work to set it up. Discus is also a good choice but they can run you up to 200 dollar + for a good size adult one that has...

    Aq Advisor

    Uv Sterilisers

I think it all comes down to a preference....I compare it to people that prefer tap water vs bottled water. I drink filtered water if not via a brita filter or bottled but alot of people i know drink tap water. For my fish I prefer there water sterilized, it's not gonna hurt them but it just...

Marine Sand And New Set Up Advice Please.

Well I would definitly check for you PH out of your tap then..... If I am correct, and your planning on keeping your big pieces of wood I would say the crushed coral would be working for you then against. If you are drawing a low PH out of your tap, with the addition of the drop in PH from your...

Figure 8 Puffer Into Community Results

I think the trick is with speed. Puffer fish are not fast fishes, and even as a ambush predator It still lacks the speed. I have 3 dwarf puffers with 5 zebra daino's and I find them as great tank mates! They help me block there line of sight with each other and there about 10x the speed of...

    Help With Tank!

My experience with angelfish is that they are aggressive! They seem to go after everybody but thank god my parrots are around to keep them in check! I'm not sure if your lfs has some Bolivian rams, dwarf flag, dwarf rainbow fish but they would make nice tank mates.

    Water Evaporation?

Yeah...Everytime I pick up my lid for feedings, there is always alot of water dripping off it. So if you don't have a lid then that could be the problem. If not, it could just be how dry your place is....The dryer it is the higher the evaporation.
