Always good to use a sponge or rocks n plants to get a new tank going from a main tank.makes perfect sense. I'm doughtful of gt tanks but that's my opinion.if yr so doughtful of yr source fish , then don't buy !

Hi, tap water nitrates are 50 so pointless doing water changes unless tank levels go up. Any ideas ? I'm trying floating plants for now. Don't want to add chemicals as this is against my belief.

I'm glad that you have decided to end the misery it must be in. Consider yourself a responsible pet owner. It would be mostly impossible to cure it n then it's had so much trauma that it will linger on for a while so put it to sleep. Happens to everyone so don't feel bad.

Bought some floating plants in an effort to get nitrate down but even if it doesn't it's ok. Water change 2x weekly n that's as much as I have time for. Hope it helps.

Or get a test kit. The tetra strips have proved to be as accurate as the api liquid tests. My tank is basically tap water, all good but nitrate n hard so don't no what to do, but now I no these things I will chose more wisely. Good luck.

Hi, In your best interests don't feed for a few days, do partial water changes everyday. All should be well from then on. My fish seem to love water changes and makes them active and bright.

Don't get a fish or snail to eat them possibly. If you don't want them then treat n kill them off. Your choice really.
