Another option is centre wier. But unless you going to put rock up against it, it does stand out. I like back wier. Are you able to cut back glass. If so, you could add a external overflow on back if that makes sense. This way you don't lose any tank space and being a full wier it will be silent.

Just 2. it was supposed to be 1 but i had to much rock for either tank. Only thing like that i had to buy was an eheim pump and it will be used as a return pump for my sump so no real extra investment except for £6.99 tub.

What media are you running in your external. These can become nitrate factories. what are your nitrate readings ? Maybe replace the media with LR rubble. I'm a complete marine noob though so take my suggestions with a pinch of salt and i'm sure someone more experienced will be along shortly.

Not really sure if i'm curing or cycling the LR. The LR was cured and was transported in salt water. So the die off should be minimal. I've not had any smell which most people say about LR curing. I'm just trying to keep the LR in as good a state as possible till i can get it in display tank...

Has she considered doing 1 as planted tropical and the other as marine. Would give the greatest amount of options for stocking. Marine is more expensive but then I assume if they can afford an interior designer, there probably not going to be bothered about the price of Live rock.
