    Design Help Please..........

Another option is centre wier. But unless you going to put rock up against it, it does stand out. I like back wier. Are you able to cut back glass. If so, you could add a external overflow on back if that makes sense. This way you don't lose any tank space and being a full wier it will be silent.

    Securing Lr

Do you guys use reef racks or adhesive or anything similar to hold your rocks in place and to stop a land slide. Or do you just stack them very carefully ? Also is it worth having LR rubble in a refugium. I know large quatities of LR is good but someone here said LR rubble was more trouble than...

Reef Tank On A Shoe String

Just 2. it was supposed to be 1 but i had to much rock for either tank. Only thing like that i had to buy was an eheim pump and it will be used as a return pump for my sump so no real extra investment except for £6.99 tub.

    Equipment Prices

Honestly his prices aren't terrible. D + D refraco is about £35 on internet and V2pure 50 RO unit average about £85. You can generally search around the internet and save about 5%-15% on the price in LFS but i try and spread the love and spend about 50/50 with lfs and internet. My reasoning for...

Seriously Considering Closing Down My Tank

What media are you running in your external. These can become nitrate factories. what are your nitrate readings ? Maybe replace the media with LR rubble. I'm a complete marine noob though so take my suggestions with a pinch of salt and i'm sure someone more experienced will be along shortly.

    Feeding Lr And Water Change

Not really sure if i'm curing or cycling the LR. The LR was cured and was transported in salt water. So the die off should be minimal. I've not had any smell which most people say about LR curing. I'm just trying to keep the LR in as good a state as possible till i can get it in display tank...

My Girlfriend Has Been Tasked To Design A Massive Aquarium

Has she considered doing 1 as planted tropical and the other as marine. Would give the greatest amount of options for stocking. Marine is more expensive but then I assume if they can afford an interior designer, there probably not going to be bothered about the price of Live rock.

    Feeding Lr And Water Change

Hi I've just done a set of water tests on my LR tanks and have come back with NH4 0 NO2 0 NO3 50-100 PO4 0.05 Also unfortunately due to lack of light my coraline seems to be dieing off and going white :( Do i need to do a water change to reduce the nitrate or can i just allow this to drop...

Reef Tank On A Shoe String

Well i got my tank. 380l rena. I reckon I can probably fit a 200l sump under it with a bit of DIY modification. So tommorow it's time to get the tools out and start drilling holes and pulling stuff apart. Wish me luck. Ohh my camera battery is flat and can't find charger and all the photos off...

    Vortech Mp40 Es

My theory is that as it is only one thing i can cage it in egg crate or similar if i get an anemone. But yeah i'm sure they can shred an anemone like all the other powerheads. Just a single point to protect in my mind. Although i'm a complete novice.

    Vortech Mp40 Es

Is the any downside to them aside from the somewhat terrifying cost. I was concidering going closed loop as A) I don't really like the look of loads of powerheads and cable for said powerhead scattered around tank. B) If i can manage to keep my tank stable for 6-12 months I quite fancied...

    Fresh Water Baths And Quarantine

Do you guys use Fresh Water baths for your new fish and do you have any quarantine procedures. Just see people reccomending drip acclimitisation and then people saying they use Fresh water baths. Seems a little contradictory.

    Thinking Marine

I tend to go for second-hand. I know its nice to have things new but for me my 2 concerns are 1. Upgrades. I don't want to spend that sort of money on a tank to realise a month after i set it up i want something bigger. 2. Loss of interest. It hasn't happened to me yet but i see a lot of...

    Live Rock Addiction.........

You can buy live rock that is relatively thin 1"-3" sheets. Tonga Live rock sheets is one and there are others. Might be a little hard to come by though. I have a couple of sheets not sure if there tonga though. but bought them so i could have caves and plates for corals. Would have bought more...

    Thinking Marine

The main problem here I think is marine fish are used to an extremely stable enviroment. This means they are a lot more susceptible to changes in water chemistry and temp than there fresh water cousins. Anemone's are not generally reccomended for begginners as they have special needs. Marine...

    Sump Size / Content

I've hopefully secured myself a 400l tank which i will be drilling and then adding a sump too. I have an old 8ft / 18 / 20 which i was going to cut up for glass for the sump so having it absolutely filling the cabinet or tiny make no difference to me cost wise. So by rough calculations i think i...

Its Sunday, So What Fishy Jobs Have You Been Doing Today?

I took all my live rock out of my curing tank to put it in a plastic box. Found i didn't have enough space in the new plastic box so transferred it all back to glass tank. Went out and bought a bigger plastic box. Filled it with LR and then found that it wasn't strong enough for all the water...

Background : Having kept tropical/freshwater fish for a few years, everything from Koi to tetra's/ Oscars to corydoras and spent a fair amount of time in LFS. I kept wandering over to the marine section and oohing and aahing at the massive variety of Marine Fish, invertebrates and Coral, and...

    Stocking List

Surely the Flame Angel is going to be expensive. Range from £75 for a tiny one(probably Juvi) to £100 for a slightly larger one around me.

    Flame Angel

From what i read lewiss they suffer a lot from transportation and capture and can therefore arrive with parasites and diseases. If i get one i'm going to make sure it is in the LFS for at least 4-6 weeks before purchase. It will be my last fish addition anyway. Going to start with a couple of...

    Flame Angel

Yeah i know it's hit and miss. I just wondered if i get one that does nip coral is this a massive issue or not. Will it's nipping completely wipe out coral or is it just an annoyance for reef tank keepers ?
  39. U

    Flame Angel

I been looking round at possible stocking options for my reef tank. I really love the Flame Angel fish but have heard they are coral nippers. Does this nipping do massive damage to corals or does it just slow the growth ? I know some of them are ok but would rather assume the worst.

    Will We Die In 2012?

I'm afraid that only I exist and that reality is just a figment of my imagination, created by my mind to stop me from feeeling lonely. Time and space exist only as refence points to allow me to plot my current position in my created reality. Well it's about as likely as some ancient...
