Lol i was worrying that my tank hadn't cycled even though I had 0 ammonia 0 nitirite and <5 nitrate. So i added a bit more LR and the levels didn't change but i've started to get diatoms. So hopefully means my tank is cycled :)

You probably only need 1 baffle between return pump and cheato. I would put 3 baffles in between skimmer and cheato to act as a bubble trap or you could add another one between return pump and cheato.

Put 4 prawns in on the 13th and retested today and still 0 ammonia 0 nitrite 0-1 Nitrate 1 of the prawns got shreded by my mp 40 though so not sure how much it will help the glass anemone situation.

You must be pretty close to me then. I'm in abergavenny. There is a guy on ebay in caerfilly that has live rock for £6 a kilo but i know he will go down to £5 a kilo. He buys complete setups and then breaks them down for LR, skimmers, tanks ect and sells them seperately.

£5-6 per kilo is about the going rate for LR from tank breakdowns around me. Is this local to you or where you going to pay postage ?

Well i think ammonia,nitrite,nitrate + PH is the minimum for finding out if it's safe for fish. KH is the waters buffering capacity(ability to soak up PH swings) and all phosphate tends to do is cause algea issues. Hope that helps or at least makes sense.

From what i've read here and on other sites, Salifert are the top of the line for marine test kits. I would probably exchange the KH for phosphate if it where me. As i would have thought it unlikely you'll be test KH regularly but i'm sure someone with a bit more experience will be along shortly...

The only problem you might have them is transferring water from spare tank to display tank. I'm pretty sure any reef safe container that is water tight is fine. I use a spare bucket i got from salt.

If i do a culture and then add the copepods to display tank and refugium. Will it help establish a colony big enough to feed a mandy. or do you need to be doing constant cultures ?

Has anyone had any luck with culturing copepods + rotifers. I was looking for kits or sellers people would reccomend. Plus any handy tips anyone may have.

Don't really rate city aquatics. But don't really have any opinion either way about the salt.

Iquatics have released a set of luminaires which are less than half the price of the ATI's. Not sure of the build quality compared to ATI but 2ft 6 t5 is £139.99 and comes with 6 bulbs of your choice.

I prefer the idea of a refugium personally. but then i want a manadarin so having a copepod breeding ground is a massive bonus. Plus as a beginner i like the idea of not having to dose and having the added stability.
