    Guppies..playing or sick?

I have seen guppies do this before and I think they are just playing. Just to be on the safe side though, are they displaying any other signs of illness? Are they still eating normally? any marks on them? etc

    Yippppeeeeeee I'm getting a pond

OK thanks again for that. Sorry to ask more questions but I keep thinking of different things... Do we wash the substrate just the same as I would for a tank? Also how do I work out how many inches of fish (or whatever the coldwater term is) that we can keep?

    Yippppeeeeeee I'm getting a pond

OK, just wanted to throw a few more questions in: 1) Can coldwater fish varieties be mixed together or do I need to keep certain ones apart? 2) Would I be able to keep koi in a 3 metre long, 2 metre wide, 1 metre deep pond? 3) How do you do the corners with the liner to make sure there are...

    Yippppeeeeeee I'm getting a pond

I think each eye has an individual "look" We're now thinking we might try and find a preformed pond that we can just build our wall around. Would that be OK?

    Yippppeeeeeee I'm getting a pond

Thanks for that Ryan. I've been looking at some pond fish today and I must admit I'm not much for the fancy varieties anyway and those ones with googling eyes just look freaky

    Yippppeeeeeee I'm getting a pond

Not sure how deep it's going to be yet. It will be about 2 metres wide by 3 metres long. Thats part of what I was asking. How deep should we make it?

    Yippppeeeeeee I'm getting a pond

Thanks for that, we don't particularly want a split level pond though. Would a water feature, like a stone monolith fountain, on the upper level flowing down into the bottom level be sufficient do you think? Also, cornwall is a bit far for me to go for pond stuff unless we go camping for a...

    Yippppeeeeeee I'm getting a pond

Yeah thats what I thought about the Koi/Size thing. Well really I'm open in terms of size. It's going to be a raised pond because it's going to be bridging two different height levels of the garden. It will be above the ground on one side and dug into the higher ground level at the other side...

    Difficult Decision :-(

Keep your eye on that then. If the behaviour continues, you may want to re-evaluate the fish you want to keep.

    Difficult Decision :-(

How did it lose the eye? If it's healthy in all other ways , still active and feeding well etc then I would keep it alive.

Not sure if my friends tank is OK

OK, so I've just been to stay with my friend for a week and she has a coldwater hex tank with 3 different goldfish in there. In the tank is a filter and a tube which contains an air stone. Please excuse me if these are silly questions but what I'm wondering if do the "normal" rules I've come...

Beginnings of a 220Uk gallon reeftank

I wanna go swimming :P It's going to look absolutely amazing. I do however think you might need a second house to keep all your other belongings in cos that tank seems to take up all your room!

    Net or plastic?

I personally have no problem with the hanging net ones. I keep a peaceful community freshwater tank and kept my platty babies in one when they were born. I found that the holes in the floating plastic ones were too big for the smaller fry anyway.

    This may sound stupid, but

Feeding them twice a day won't help though. They simply don't need that much. I feel mine once a day and even then I regularly miss days out.
