Yeah that looks like a pretty good sized colony there so £30 is a good bargain indeed!

Hi all

Sorry it has been so long since my last update but now christmas and the new year is out of the way i should have a bit of time to start posting more often. I am pleased to be able to say, the tank is doing very well, the rock is colouring up very nicely and and the whole set-up seems to be vitually maintanance free, apart from cleaning the the front glass i have hardly had to do a thing to it for about six weeks. I do have a little bad news, i lost the replacement clown i brought, i found it on top of the condensation trays, the tank has about a one inch square gap in each corner and it must have jumped out through one, thats the forth fish i have lost now and all of them have been because of stupid accidents, i have blocked the holes up now so it should not happen again. I still remain fairly positive, as i still have not lost anything due to poor water quality which would be much more of a problem.

My corals seem to be doing very well, the pink cabbage coral which was in a bit of a state when i brought it is now looking great and my finger coral and started to split and grow into new corals, i will have more news and photo's to post later but for now here is a FTS along with my dog who decided she would pop her head in front of the camara

wow VM, long time

tanks looking excellent. MY lfs has one of those yellow tailed wrasse in, gorgeous fish. Nice choice.

Hi Ben, good to see you are still here, i will catch up with your journal shortly :good:

The wrasse really is stunning, its feeding really well and is looking really healthy, its also growing very fast, i am very happy with it, when i first picked it up i done some research and was really worried when it said it was only to be kept by experts, but its doing well, although it will not take frozen or flake food, i guess i am just lucky it can find enough food from things on the LR. If your set-up can accomadate it, buy the one you have seen, you will not regret it mate.

Thanks
VM

Thanks Trod

I just wish i could take photographs good enough to do it justice, allthough the tank looks nice in the pics, most people who have seen it say it looks way better than it does on here. Its the FTS that i can not really get right. My close up shots seem to work a little better i will upload some very soon.

Any advice from you guys to help me get better shots, preticularly of the fish would be great.

Here is my pink cabbage coral, it has improved loads in the last few weeks, i hated it when i first added it, i like it alot now

Here is my leather finger coral, which was the first coral i added to the tank, over the last few weeks it has started to split, one finger has fell off already and i just picked it up and wedged it in one of the rocks, it has since stuck solid to the rock and is even showing its own polyps now. Its going to drop alot more fingers very soon and i will be attaching them to small pieces of rock and hopefully swap them for other corals or sell them, i do not really want more than two of them, they grow big, very quick. If they turn out well i would sell them very cheap to friends on here ;)

I am assuming the splitting is a good thing, if anyone knows any different, please tell me :good:

Hey.
Just had a quick glance at your joural.
Its really comeing along great.
I enjoy seeing people have good progress with there tanks, mines at a bit of a stand-still at the minute as I cant afford any stock to put in at the minute, which really bugs me!

Wow, really nice there VM. It's amazing how hands-off a tank can get once it's mature isn't it? :)

Hi all

Thanks for all your great comments guys, I am pretty much in the same boat as you fishy-friend, as in cash being a problem, i am not totally on hold yet but i have had to slow down a bit lately.

Kj and Jenny your posts and encouragment is, as always, a great boost for my morale :D the coraline is spreading nicely now its even starting to cover the powerheads, i am well happy with it, its visitors to my house that notice it more than me, especially if they have not seen the tank for a week or two.

Thanks Ski, you are spot on there mate, it is pretty amazing and it has shocked me how hands off this can be, i thought a salt water set-up would be almost constant maintanance but it is in fact, far less time consuming than my old freshwater planted tank, i do always feel like i should be doing something to the tank, but i try to stop myself, i am a great believer in, if its not broke, don't try to fix it. I do however plan a small water change this weekend

The finger coral frags are doing great, i have two now and they are growing at a unbelieveable rate.

Thanks
VM

Haven't dipped into this thread in quite a while so time to put that to rights.
Well Vic things have certainly moved along since I last clicked into your thread and I have to say things are lookin good man,
I like the asthetics of this tank, the positioning and rockscape makes it easy on the eye.
Anything in particular you need to address or is everything going smoothly at the moment.
Keep up the good work
Regards
BigC
