ANYWAY...
SRC - you're exactly correct. He wants to bust loose on me, in private, I'm sure so you won't all hate him for it. Aaah well - who really cares.
Public or private, I'm sure he's more than met his match in you. :fun:

Wow.
I left for like 40 minutes and came back for a good laugh. Thanks!

BBit - go back and read your post.
When you said "mine's in my fish tank...
and then someone replied and said "wouldn't that be harmful to the fish?" I think some were thinking something wacky. heh heh heh
Yes, I'm well aware of that, but I thought I'd keep it, ...civil  at the least.

I just have to say that, perhaps because I have a beautiful nephew who is four but only has the abilities of a two or three month old, since when have we decided that people or animals or fish are only deserving of quality care if they are intelligent? If it is OK to rob a betta of space to move for his physical and mental health because he is not as intelligent as others, than you would be saying that my nephew and others like him maybe only deserve to have a tiny stark room and a hospital bed with no comforts. We're not even talking good (1 gallon) better (2 gallon) or best (20 gallon, lets say). We're talking that the poor guy can't even move like he should, how is that healthy even if he has clean water regardless of his own thoughts about it or whether he is capable of them?

Ah, I have been enlightened :) I was wondering why I have the strange urge to feed my guys and gal brine shrimp every day :D

wow long thread

any way i dont care if they can or cant think living with me they have a better life than dying in a cup and i bet they are smart enough to realize that

just my 2 cents :p ;)

Onepony, what a profound statement! And so true!

Bettamomma, you know the secret of bettas. Now we must kill you, too. :D

I think we're all in agreement that that is NOT the most appropriate container to keep a betta in, even in you keep it clean. Daudy, as her friend, maybe you could say something to her about it.

As for John's comments, I think what he meant is a yes, a fish could indeed live and exist in a container like that. But he knows that a fish could not THRIVE in that sort of container. There IS a difference between simply existing and truly thriving.

Now, let's keep this civil and keep the personal attacks and comments out of this discussion.

John, I've sat here watching this all unfold this morning. Honestly, I hate wannabe know-it-all jerks like yourself. And I'm sure I'm not the only one here who thinks the same thing. Whoop dee freaking doo! So you're in a whole load of clubs and you have a degree! I know people who are still in school who know more than you about fish.

Another thing, don't you DARE even think about attacking BettaMomma. 99% of the people here will stand up for all the good she has brought this forum. She's not afraid to speak her mind for the rights of fish... or afraid to take on those who don't agree with her. And as far as I know, the only person who has a problem with her IS Kelly... the one person who told you to come here. I don't like her either. You two have the same personality. She can't take any competition either, so she had to erase some posts off of here. She'll probably erase this whole thread when she gets back...

Can't take the heat, John? Then just leave. We don't like people like you around here.

Ok, so now that I've vented all that agression. That tank is much too small. Imagine living in a bathroom-sized room your whole life. Sure, you can live there, but you'll be much happier... and much saner in a larger room.

Many may not think that bettas can have personalities, but why not? Cats and dogs can, so why not fish? Out of a lot of fish, I think bettas are some of the smartest. Sure they may not have the complexity of our brains, but it doesn't mean they can't be shy, scared, hyper, happy, etc. Happy fish build bubblenests, come to greet you at the front of the tank. Depressed fish get pale and lethargic. You may consider this "instincts," but all of us who actually take the time to get to know our fish know this isn't correct.

Enough... I'm done.

I agree, topic has gone off and many personal attacks have been made. I'm going to close this. When Wuv returns, she can decide if it is worth reopening.
