Wild Tropical

i grew up in glasgow and my dad says the used to be gold fish in the canal there
i never saw them my self first hand tho
i guess they would have been more likey Koi as goldies would not be been able to survive in the wild

There are probably old pet goldfish in practically every lake or public pond... But they aren't tropical!

I saw a programme on TV where they had to drain a local pond, so all the fish were moved. There was a goldfish in there that was about 18 inches long and about 8 inches from top to bottom! They said they could tell it was not a wild carp because of the colour, but a pet that had been released many years ago.

As you say they are not tropical and are hardier than Koi. I lost my Koi out of the pond in the garden 2 years ago during the very cold spell, but the goldies were fine.

It is an odd question, i can only assume Ashley hasn't started Geography classes yet so probably not such a silly question if asked this week, as it is warm out for once! Tropical UK, mankini weather!
