Wild Red Spotted Peru Angelfish Tank

i know they arent exactly that special but how about a group of red platys?

i know they wont shoal but i could get a group of 5-6. their colouration would look good against the plants

What about rummynose tetra?

sunset not pure red?

both would look good but i think the red may just have it

Sunset are my favourite, but I think the red may look better with your other stocking :good:

i have thought of rummys because the are wonderfull shoaling fish but they are a bit hyper and im not sure i want that as my tank is very gracefull at the minute. except when the angels have a pop at each other and the rams are breeding..... but generaly its gracefull

Yes! Platies! I have a picture somewhere from when I had a dark tank full of red platies and fry. it was brilliant. They might be a little dumb but they will keep your tank cleaner then a cory cat :p

oooooh i think ive decided then..... red platys it is :hyper:

just got to think about how many now then! i was thinking about 6-8 to start with and see how it looks

i dont want fry so ill just get males

I think the fry would become angel food though...... So that wouldn't really be a problem.

Sunsets stand out soooooooo much better though.

I have some irredescent (sp?) blue/silver Platys and they are brilliant. Would really shine under your LED's Matt.

there are so many places for the fry to hide in this tank i just know some would make it.... those that didnt get eaten or sucked into the filters would be very safe right in the middle among the wood and plants and i dont want loads of juvi platys

Just get a group, if you get too many i will have em off ya! :D All of a sudden got a thing for them again... :S :X

i really like red fish against the green of a planted tank and i just think that a single colour fish would have better impact in my tank tbh. my cardinals have great blue and red, my angels are silver/black stripes with a hint of red and red fins, the rams are very yellow/orange/pink colouration. so to have a pure red fish would be a little different from the multi coloured species already in there, i also think they look more natural in a single colour too and all my fish have red in them somewhere so it would kind of link them all together.

am i thinking about this red too much?

there are so many beautifull platy colourations out there going for pure red may seem a bit odd but i feel it will be the best look in my tank. i had some gorgeous pinky/white platys a few years ago and some awesome looking tiger platys too and i do think the sunset platys are very nice but i dont think they ill be as nice as red.......

i honestly dont want the bother with livebearers getting fat and popping fry out every few weeks.
