How about give those 2 back to the LFS

Saying you can only have 10 fish is pretty shocking really.

10 Oscars? or 10 Neon Tetras? Lol.

3 Mollies
5 Neons
5 Silver Tip Tetra
2 Plecos (what plecos are they???)

Should be fine in a 48 Litre.

3 Mollies

5 Silver Tip Tetra---------------i only have 2 now 3 have died :(
2 Plecos

The plecos are just common plecos and i am wanting guppies for definate, i love their look and have wanted them from the offset. What should my next steps be then, do you think get rid of the silver tips and then could i get some guppies?

Common plecos will outgrow that tank very very quickly. They need returning to the lfs or re-homing seperately. I would guess the silver tip tetra were being aggressive because they were in such a cramped space. They are very active and grow to at least 5cm. A 48l in my opinion isn't big enough.

How about a shoal of 5 harlequin rasbora insted?

ok could i keep the plecs till they r too big or is this not advisable? ideally i'd like a bigger tank but i cant afford to buy one atm, i think i'll get rid of the silver tipped tetras too and get the guppys, i wanted these originally anyway its a shame we cant keep them all though

I would rehome the plecs as soon as possible unless you have plans to upgrade the tank in the next couple of months.

Common plecs grow fast and can easily reach 18" so for two in a tank I think you would need at least a 5ft tank, probably even a 6ft so if I was you I'd rehome them. If you keep them in your tank, in a few months time they will get to a stage where the environment is already too small for them and it will result in their growth being stunted which means their bodies will normally stop growing but their internal organs wont which causes a slow and painful death for the fish as they will grow deformed.

The old myth stating that a fish will only grow as big as the tank it is in simply isnt true, they will in body size but will end of having a much shortened and unhappy life.

i love the "just common plecs" comment lol.

You may wanna remove the plecs..
