OK, the one I have done a couple of times is...

come in from outside look at my fish tank, think to myself "Man that looks dark, I can't believe I did not turn on the light.." Turn off the light, take off my sunglasses, and think to myself, what an idiot B)

THe other one I have done once to date is overfill my ten (U.S.) gallon with the python and dumped almost a galon (it seemed) of water all over my living room floor. But, hey, I appreciate tile more now :kana:

What are your secret "oops" events?

putting sand in, put my light on my bookcase and it was on and it burt a hole in it

after doing my weekly cleaning went on the porch for a smoke and left the syphon out. came back in to find my three year old excitedly looking at the 4 gallons of water all over my carpet.

I'm sure everyones done this before.. when I was a first-time syphoning my tank I wasn't paying enough attention to the hose outlet... ended up with nearly a gallon of water on my carpet... in my room.. the smell.... the smell...

I just very quickly needed to remove a little water from my young green spotted puffer tank. The stupid thing?

oh yeah, I looked away for 5 seconds and heard "SSHHHUURRRLLP", looked back to see a distressed little puffer stuck to the end of the hose, blown up to the size of a golfball...... was cool but not for the fish

lmfao Stryker - not cool for the fish, but still leaves a funny mental picture. I love puffers, I really would like to get one eventually. I think they're adorable. :)

Hmmm, what's the stupidest thing I've done? That'd be not unplugging my heater before I did a water change. As I was pouring water back into my tank, I heard a fizzing sound. I'm searching all over the floor for a leak, thinking water's rushing onto the carpet somewhere. As I'm standing back up, I notice the heater's bottom had fallen off. Fortunately it was a clean break - it didn't shatter or anything and my fishies weren't hurt.

Ive done that becca...Ive told this story before but i accidently dropped my light in my fish tank and on accident i reached for it while it was on. that was fun

:/ ...NOT

Ive done the leaving the heater on thing :S Also have over filled the tank and sent gallons of water over the carpet, thats what you get for using the hose to fill the tank and then going off to make breakfast :S The most stupid thing ive done is switch off the power to the tank while doing a water change (avoiding the exploding heater problem) and then gone to the pub having forgoten to switch the power back on, when i came back from the pub all the fish were hanging at the surface  presuming a filter malfunction i try to switch on the tank lights so i can see whats going on, which of course wont work either, so then i start cursing and going on about power cuts, but the room lights are on  I felt pretty stupid when i realised what had actually happened :*)

I foolishly took the fast approach and went to fill up a tank using the outside hose...it popped out while I was venturing outside to turn it off and at full blast it sprayed all over my desk, my pc, my PRINTER and everywhere, ughh what a mess, my printer began bleeding on the floor ... :X :X

Second mistake, same tank. Stuck the gravel vac in and walked away to feed the rest of the fish, came back to that tank, completely forgetting I had started the gravel vac and found them in barely 2" of water

Becca, same here. Of course, that's how we all learn. Fortunately, no fish were harmed. One would think they would all get electrocuted or something.

Well, if this could only count towards this topic... ;) Just to prove my blonde moments are still in full swing, I read this:

ouch ghostknife. bet you wont do that again
And then found myself saying "oooh, who has a ghostknife? Uh oh, what'd they do..." and actually re-reading the topic several times to see what happened.

Then I realized ghostknife was the poster, not the fish. :/
