What Is Squared Off?

I don't know :-( her birthing canal was opening and closing and you could see she was trying to push them out and they went back in I didn't know what to do but this morning I did have 13 very large babies= all dead along with her, was really emotional but her bump was tiny tiny! Only indication was 5 fry eyes in gravid
ADDING: AUTOCORRECT IS AWFUL

Platy update! Secluding herself near heater male isn't interested at all and wow she looks like she's going to pop!! Never seen anything like it

Sorry about the guppy! Looks like you've got plenty of plants for the platy fry to hide in. Hopefully once they're born you'll be struggling to see them which will mean they've managed to hide well! What will you feed them with?

Luqifrier 2 I think it's called and I have 2 plants and put breeding mops in there aswell :-D u might be able to see the background but I am still putting her in the box on a night

Did u ever see like circles in your platys gravid spot I don't see no eyes tho just 4 circles :-D only appeared today I think

Not really - every time I thought I could see it she would have an almighty poo and it would disappear! She didn't sqaure off either, but she was definitely pregnant! Yes it's Liquifry no.2 and mine love it - so do mum and dad - no wonder they poo so much!!! LOL

Haven't a clue as they were born overnight. By the time I'd got up I think she'd found most of them and I managed to see about 5-6 in various hiding places. At the moment I usually see up to 3 at any one time tho whether it's the same 3 I don't know. Might be easier to tell soon as they are starting to get their colours. They'll be 2 weeks old tonight.

Aww happy 2 week birthday haha, mine didn't pop last night, im getting so impatient as I want her to have them
So I don't need to go out and buy some more I have 2 85 litre tanks and 4 fish in one and 2 in the other! So they have space to go when they are born!

Okay so I'm starting to think shes not pregnant she's had the white anal dot for 10 days now, when I shine a flashlight into her gravid i
See circles but no eyes her gravid is getting a tad darker but only At the top, she's had a male in with her for 4-5weeks and I def aint missed the babies and for some reason she's just hiding away all the time now- but why when there arnt fry visable in her just circles that are clear

I haven't been staring at my fish 24/7 but I've kept platies for over a year now and I've never seen them give birth although I saw the guppies several times without trying too much.
Yours could be hiding because she is stresed, possibly due to being kept in a breeder box. A lot of fish die after being forced to give birth there.
I wish I could give you some platies for free. My platy fry are surviving a tank with clown loaches that actually ate cory fry through the holes of a breeder box.

Here is one of my survivors I just took a picture of. He must be finding food I guess. I actually haven't bothered saving any platy fry since I first bought two about a year and a half ago and I have lots of them now. I only recently, two months ago "had to"(couldn't kill them) save about 8 of them because I found them when changing the substrate in another tank.

The diagram on there a - d my fish has been showing signs since 10 days ago the one that's most important is A which makes me think it's not Those canomallas worms
Could an average 6-7 hrs in the breeding box stress her? I put her in there as I really want to save the babies and can't get plants until the snow

Sunny today

I don't know how old he is but I presume just a couple of weeks.
Yes, they can get stressed after just 6-7 hours. Any animal would if taken out their normal surroundings. She doesn't look pregnant to me on that last picture but it depends on the fish.

Below is a picture of one of mine that I took today. She's got the white tube on her "bottoms". She's not squared off yet and I've seen this platy way bigger and squared off before, she was enormous once. If anything, she must have given birth already if you ask me. But my platies do get big bellies for the most part and stay with big bellies. I only noticed a few shrink to a body looking like a male for a week before they expanded again.

That's my oldest female platy and mother of most my other adults. She always looks pregnant:

She looks like she's seriously going to pop I didn't think it stressed them as much in the same tank water could my male not be able to have babies they've been together 4 weeks, mine has that tube aswell but it's been there 11 days now maybe she ate them as they come out :-( I don't know I havent fed them yday because of constipation and peas the day before

Yes, on that picture she looks squared off, at least the front belly.
