What Is Squared Off?

Nope no fry but one tired momma :( and that sound very possible because they only eat other male fry to prove better don't they?
If so that's really sweet, I do feel sorry for mine as he looks worried to go near her it's like a defiant double thinking haha!

Is she getting any bigger? I don't know if I'm watching her to much but she's not changing (but slowing down lots)

She doesn't look too pregnant on these pictures. Maybe she ate them? Adult platies are savages towards newly born fry.

She's been in the breeding box overnight though I'm sure there would have been some evidence? I was only sleeping 7 hours I'm trying to stay so close lmao, she's also having a good cleaning around the tank :-S nesting maybe?

Well then, it could be too early for her I guess.

Any Ideas? :-(
I'm on 6 hrs sleep trying to catch it! I'm use to it with my kids but I really need to see my first ever babies be born I'm trying my best to look after her
:)

I would say if she hasn't sprogged soon might be worth taking her out of the birthing box or she could get quite stressed and I understand that they can reabsorb the babies if that happens. Not saying it will happen, but something to think about.

She's only in the box on a night time just incase I do miss it and there all eaten

Get a big bunch of java moss or some type of moss. Then leave the adults give birth in the main tank without separating. The babies will have places to hide. If you wish, you can catch them as you see them to prevent them from being eaten by the adults. Baby platies like hiding in the substrate too if it's naturally coloured gravel, and they hide very well.

Great advice Snazy!  The last time mine had fry she had them overnight and there were only a handful left by the time I got up. (So much for the females not being hungry for 12 hours after they give birth!) There is an ornamental plastic plant in there which is a little bit bushy but not very big. I had to pop out for about half an hour and when I got back there was no sign of any fry in any of their hiding places - mainly behind the filter where the adults couldn't reach. I thought she must have got them all so I went to the LFS which in my case is PetsatHome and got a big plant ostensibly for the next batch of fry which I'd estimated would be the middle of February. Got the plant in the tank and within seconds it was populated with about 5-6 fry! They'd obviously managed to keep out of mum's way on their own but I think the big plant has given them a better chance. I have 1 older fry that I didn't know anything about until it was about 3 weeks old. So it (don't know the sex yet) was the only survivor of that batch. Think I have drastically increased the survival odds by putting in the large plant. Having said that I now am probably overstocked altho they are still quite small so i will have to find homes for them at some point if I can.
