ok i think ill go for the fluval 4+ does anyone know where they sell these cheaply!?

IMO there wouldnt be enough flow for your tank, if you want to avoid algae, ammonia needs processing quicker so higher circulation and turnover is a must!
IMO you should definitely go for an external or 2 internals

2*fluval 3+'s would be sufficient

2 internal filters!?!?!?

I'll stick by my first suggestion of a Eheim Classic 2217, This will turn over the tank 5.5 times per hour and is a more than capable filter

could you afford a little second hand tank, some PVC bore pipe and some filter sponges? this can all be done for £30 and you could use it as a sump, with a sump you dont need a filter, as the sump is the filter!

a little tank goes underneath the big one and acts as a filter, the second tank wont be visable.

google aquarium sumps, you would need to drill your tank though

In my opinion you'd still be best with an external filter, preferably an eheim, although expensive you would benefit in the long run of having a reliable filter that will easily cope with the task in hand.

Unfortuanately these are the costs incurred with having a larger tank, the bigger the tank, the higher the cost of equipment and running costs.

yes but you would need a power head as well

Get two 3+ or 2 4+ fluvals. The bigger filtration area the better the filters will cope, only problem is they will take up more room.

that power head costs quite a bit. surely 1 Fluvel 4+ will be fine, its capability says so
