What Fish Should I Get?

You can work more of this out whilst your fishless cycling, where the only thing in the tank will be the substrate, water and filter and heater of course.

no plants or ornaments needed, won't help.

The problem with frogs is that they must be fed on meaty foods like bloodworm, but the Guppies need a diet with more nutrients. Furthermore, since the frogs have terrible eyesight you have to feed them with a pipette to get them to eat. For stocking I'd suggest:

3 male guppies and 6 female OR 7-8 male guppies (if you want more colour and no fry)

5 Corys (peppered, bronze, albino etc) or 8 pygmy corys.

Have you looked a Gouramis (for a centrepice) such as honey and dwarf gourami, and Khuli loaches for the bottom, instead on corys? Or bristlenose plec?

EDIT: if you can find Endlers, they are similar to guppies but are smaller and the males are more colourful. You could have 10-12 in there.

Jonty i like the look of Gouramis ! , They look like loverly fish. And i was thinking of a small catfish for at the bottom?

Small pleco's include Bristlenose, Bulldog or Zebra. What size tank are you getting?

James.

Might get away with a Bulldog in a 60 litre. A lot of websites say about 70-75 litre minimum.

You could always get some oto's? They are nice little fish, heard they are good little algae eaters to!

James.

If you to have a betta in there I suggest putting him with a fish that will stay out if its way. For example you could put cory cats or african dwarf frogs with them.

I've had issues with Gourami's being aggressive. Although they are beautiful fish.

My first tank... I had angelfish, pictus catfish, corys, male and female swordtails, two lyretails(very beautiful fish), a few neons, and a plec. I later got a male betta. They were all really happy together.

Kuhli loaches and maybe a dojo weather loach would be neat for you tank.
I'd recommend some lyretail mollies or swordtails?

I love angelfish so I always recommend angelfish...they can be kinda pricey so thats up to you on how comfortable you feel with keeping fish.

As for food... I used to feed flake food...and had alot of problems with pH in my tank. I feed bloodworms and brine shrimp now and I have had much better luck.

GL with your tank! And please post pictures once you get it set up!

Since at the moment you're considering cory's it would be best to get a more sandy substrate as they like to syv through the sand and finer gravel won't damage their 'barbels' underneath them. The 60lt tank on ebay your looking at is not a bad price but still keep looking as you will always find a bargain on there and it just depends on how much you are willing to travel for it. Also to look at the condition of the tank is important if you want to enjoy watching it. Most of the tanks on ebay are most likely to be used and so its best to go there before clicking the buy it now button because the pictures dont always show the scratches and you dont want to end up with a scratched tank for yor first fish setup

chigwellhammer just to mention, if you're considering a 60lt then a pictus catfish and dojo loach would definitely be a no including for a beginner. A pictus catfish and dojo loach will need atleast a 4ft+ and the dojo loach are coldwater fish but can survive in a heated tank around 24 degrees. They are both very active fish and definitely need the swimming space so its best to stick with cory catfish as a beginner.

Thanks for all the advice, It does all help :D , I did end up buying the 60L for 25 quid So hopefully it should be okay. I need a heater ? any idea of a cheap but good heater i could get.
