What Fish Should I Get?

I'd say a 2ft is a good size to start with, it might not be enormous but there's enough stocking options to keep it interesting, it's cheap to buy and decorate and maintenance is easy peasy.

That tank isn't too bad, but the Stingray filters aren't the best and they aren't terribly discrete either. The Juwel Rekord 600 is quite good, there's also lots of tanks around that size available second hand quite cheaply, even if you end up having to get the filter and heater separately.

I could always get that tank? and buy a new filter for it.. But then again like you say and many others have i might be able to pick up second hand.

yeah okay mate that sounds good to me if i do end up buying that tank. So guppies should i go for 2 males and 2 females?

The tanks ok, but as others have said the filter is questionable.

I really think you'd get a much better deal by finding a good used deal though... Especially if they're into fish, they'll have upgraded the filter and all you need to do, is put your own substrate in there and POSSIBLY put new filter media in. It would also be cheaper...

That's a good first tank. Actually that's the first tropical tank I had. However, as others have said, definitely get a different filter as the Stingray is pretty pants! But it's a decent first tank, and unless there's a bargain on ebay, then I think it's a good choice.

Not sure if im getting carried away but ive seen i could have a African Dwarf Frog in my tank? and it would be okay with Guppies.. Does this sound okay? Also are there any catfish that would be okay with guppies in my first tank? or is that a no no.

Yes, you can have catfish. Pending on the size of the tank your getting you could have either Corydoras - easy to keep, nice fish that go nicely in a shoal. Or you could have a pleco - Can be kept singular, great fish. Always research before you buy a plec and make sure you know what your buying because some get huge... and I mean HUGE HUGE.

James.

Cories, yar, although probably only the smaller species like pygmy and panda. Another good bottom dweller for that size tank would be kuhli loaches.

You could have dwarf frogs, but they can be tricky to feed in a community tank, especially if housed with fish like guppies that will probably eat the food before they can get to it.

Am i right in thinking all these fish im after are all the same temperature?

Yep the majority will fit in the same temperature which is around 76 and 80f.

Not sure about the frogs as I ve never kept them.
