What Book (or Books) Are You Currently Reading?

I have a bad habit of reading multiple books at once. I have amazing mood swings, so my mood dictates which book I read on any given day. I try to keep about 3 books going on at a time for variety. Right now, the trio is Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk, Biological Exhuberance by Bruce Bagemihl, and Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. I just finished Danse Macabre by Laurell K. Hamilton (AWFUL! Do not waste your money!), Only Begotten Daughter by James Morrow (fantastic), and One for Sorrow, Two for Joy, by some guy whose writing is bad enough that I haven't bothered remembering his name for future reference. :p

I'm currently reading "Whispers" by Dean Koontz. So far (page 20) so good :) I've recently starting reading works by John Grisham, and Harlan Coben.

oh bum, just bought Danse Macabre, keep on hoping she'll get good again. (I really am going to have to get past this wishful thinking when it comes to Hamilton, but I enjoyed the first Anita Blake books so much)

Just read 'The Know' by Martine Cole - enjoy her books, though a bit too gritty sometimes - Quite fancy reading "Emma" again, haven't read that since I was a teen.

Yeah, I don't know what she's doing; clearly ignoring her fan base, that's for sure. Its all been plotless porn lately, not the arse-kicking, supernatural beasties, and detective work that the better, earlier books had. Hopefully she'll see the reviews from readers on the last two books and get her arse in gear... the ratings were 2.5 or less for the last few books on B&N.com, and all of the comments said there was too much sex and not enough plot.

I,too, have just finished reading Danse Macabre. Trashy Drivel would be one way of describing it. :/

I think they are very good (I just read books 2-4 in the past 2 months)

I just finished a book that dd#2 got me for my birthday, "Arbella: England's Lost Queen".

Arbella Stuart born & bred in the belief that she would one day inherit her cousin Elizabeth I's throne. Highly educated, she was the most royal noble in England after the queen & then James I, but because any of her children would have been next in the line of succession she was not allowed to marry and in fact was kept under close house arrest most of her life.

When she was 35 she secretly married in defiance of the king's wishes, escaped custody, was recaptured & sent to the Tower by James I for her disobedience, died there and ended up being forgotten by history.

A fascinating, sad, true story.

I'm currently reading the Kay Scarpetta novels by Patricia Cornwell. :good:

I've just finished reading Terry Pratchett - Carpe Jugulum. Think I liked that one best when it comes to the witches series. For some reason it still had me dreaming about vampires 3 days later. Quite entertaining. Just started reading Terry Pratchett - Mort, haven't really gotten into it yet. Think I'm on page 40 something and so far it's not as good as I expected it to be. But most of his stories start out quite slow, and death is one of my favourite characters, so I'm sure it will pick up soon and get heaps better =)
