What are you doing today?

Up early this morning. Insomnia can be kind of cruel...you spend the whole week looking forward to Saturday, and when it finally comes, you wake up at five a.m. Surprise! I had a rather spectacular professional setback this past week, and there's a lot on my mind. And that's the other cruelty of insomnia: I can't sleep because of the things on my mind, but during the day I can't think clearly enough to actually do anything about said things, because I'm so muddled from lack of sleep. Bleah. o_O

Still, I think the day can be salvaged. I'm going to clean a bunch of junk out of the garage and haul it to the dump, which is always satisfying, and try to get Romeo, my elk, hung up. We'll be looking at a house we're thinking about buying; it will be kind of fun to dream about possibilities even though I'm 80% sure nothing will come of it. Once all that is done, I have a knife sheath to finish, and a bow on the tree that has been waiting for hunting season to be over. It's a different type of bow than I've ever built before, and I'm excited to get back to it.

And all that stuff that's bothering me? It's going to be OK. I'm just not sure how yet. That's the good thing about hope. The assurance that things will ultimately work out is what gives me the capacity to do what I can and deal with the way things are.

Onward. ⚔️

If I'm ever offered a prime week or month free subscription I get it then immediately cancel so it runs out on the last day and doesn't charge.

I actually DO subscribe to Prime. They have a lot of good movies and shows. Also I order a LOT from Amazon so the free shipping helps. This year I've saved over $100.00 USD in shipping charges so I see it as my subscription costing me less than $40.00 USD a year.

What I don't get is why there was a $150.00 USD charge when my subscription costs me $139.00 USD. :dunno:

I have had prime from its inception. I hate to shop in retail brick and mortar places. I get the same prices or better from Amazon even with their built in small shipping charge. Plus good streaming.

this was a 1 week subscription offer that immediately charged $150.47 to my card. But they are crediting it. I get the extend when offer over, I don't have a problem with that. I have a problem with fraud. The difference between 139 and 150 is sales tax. I only order what I can't get elsewhere from Amazon and I live in DFW, one of the largest metropolitan areas in Texas so there isn't much I can't buy locally. since Amazon put my online store out of business in 2017 because people quit using search engines and just searched Amazon, I sold off my inventory but I am not an Amazon fan.

they have a streaming platform, but a lot of stuff seems to be pay extra. I watched one comedy series on there a couple of years ago, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, but I missed the last few shows because work picked up and I let Prime lapse. I just don't watch enough tv for it plus hulu and paramount. Paramount is about to get dumped too

I can understand that as far as local stores but I'm sort of stuck with a couple of grocery stores and a Walmart here and I do my best to avoid Walmart. When I lived in Ft. Worth from 1987 to 1994 I could get anything locally but it isn't the same in Sheridan WY. Actually I REALLY miss the commissary and exchange for Carswell Naval Air Station.
Is the Amazon Prime also a streaming platform? I use Netflix, although I do not watch so often. I am watching "Cocaine Cowboys" for now.
Yes there is a VERY large streaming library of movies and shows. Also includes free 2-3 day shipping, music and online books and audio books.

Not ALL streaming is free but most is. In cases where the stream is not free you can rent or buy at reduced prices. You can also subscribe to just Prime Video but I don't know the price difference. I think it is something like $11.00 USD per month plus tax. Since you are in Brazil your prices could be different.

I used to do Netflix but quit when they kept increasing my cost. Since I also have Max, Peacock and Paramount Plus it just made no sense to keep Netflix as everything they offered was pretty much covered by the other services.

As a word of advice, if you ever try another streaming service, sign up for the normal 30 day free trial but make sure to not forget to cancel within the 30 days if you find that you don't use or like. One good one to check out is Roku. While there are paid subscriptions Roku DOES offer a LOT of free content. Again I have no idea as to how this works in Brazil.

Welllp, it's been a good day. Checked out that house and we like it! It's old and there are a few things we're concerned about, but if those check out we might go for it! It's on the edge of town, just outside city limits, and it borders on a big, open ranch. There was a herd of elk feeding out there as we were looking around. Man, that just isn't fair!!!

Replaced a talelight in Mrs. Badger's car; took a nap; did some cleaning up in the garage/shop, and finally got Romeo hung up. Since the only wall of our house tall enough to hold him is where I had my bows hung up, he's going to serve double duty as a great memory and a bow rack.

Super cool! Are those all bows you made yourself?

Thanks. The two flatbows are my own creations. The recurves are both old, fiberglass-backed bows that we mostly use for carp fishing.
