What are you doing today?

Today I finally got most of my stuff unpacked since moving back in with my parents at the end of June. Preparing for my central catheter to be placed and then for my mom and I to fly to Spain in just over a week!
Some photos of my babies who have gotten me through the last couple months

@JuiceBox52
Hope the Doctor's in Spain can address some of your medical issues to give you some relief.
I'll say a prayer for you.🙏

PS: you certainly have a lot of awesome pets. Hope you enter our POTM contest in mid September with a different pet from the contest you won in July of last year. Maybe take a validation photo now so you can enter when in Spain.

That’s a great idea :)

Went with the store this morning to make some house calls to break down people’s tanks. It’s interesting getting hands-on experience with different tank sizes beyond just seeing the number. For instance, I now know that 55s are tall and wide but very skinny.
Hey you are near me - i need someone to change the substrate in my 600 ;) My arms aren't long enough to reach the other side..... In exchange for doing this work you can see an aquarium that is a different size !

When I had my black lab in Florida I used an automatic water dispenser similar to the below link. It just attached to an outside faucet and lets the water flow when the bottom is licked.
I don't think mine are that smart

When i was a kid and we had a collie that got thirsty; she went down to the creek behind the yard and drank all the water she wanted... of course when she was inside after spending a few hours playing with the cat (those two loved to play); she would drink out of the toilet - i don't think she ever bothered to use her water bowl. Device? Well we never quite taught her how to flush the toilet; but the cat knew how to open the doors - she might have been a collie but she was a heck of a lot smarter.

I moved all the plants from my 55 out on wednesday, dipped in bleachwater yesterday, rinsed and put in my 29 and my 40. Moved the clown pleco and the shrimp to the 40, because I had to bring home 10 Buenos Aires Tetras and a 6 or 7 year old moonlight gourami from the commercial account. Geriatric fish aren't pretty. Moonlight is thin, one of the tetras has a tumor. Light is out, gave them some Nori, especially for the moonlight, and got plants installed in other tanks yesterday. On dogs drinking tap water on demand here could have a pH as high as 8.5 which is one of the problems. Calcium content will clog the demand line anyway. And the dog lines. for today it's dishes and vacuuming

Part of what I'm going to do today is just admire the early autumn. It's beautiful out there. The lighting is changing, the nights are cooler and the plant growth is at its maximum. It starts early here, but I hope we have a long slow descent into winter. I hope it hangs in for at least 2 months. When you look out today it's hard to believe it could be snowing in 8 short weeks.

Today in the fishroom, I'll be checking on the results of a few breeding projects, and just enjoying the goings on in there. I expect I'll go on a good hike this afternoon, with the dog. We went out this morning but I mistimed the tide and half the long beach couldn't be accessed.

The cruise ships are back in the port, and all of a sudden there are sea glass hunters on the beaches every day. The sun is on the sea and everything glows silver on people walking slowly and never looking up in their quest for smooth broken glass. They do seem to be enjoying their hunt, and so many of them are missing dogs they've left at home that Mabel gets a lot of attention from them. She appreciates that.

Finished the Star Wars Battlefront 2 campaign a few days ago. Sad, but I loved every bit of it! Lol
