What are you doing today?

It's the best time of the year for Cherry Shrimps. They are multiplying exponentially. My diversity tank is ridden with berried mom's with multiple little couples swimming together around and babies of all size all over the place. Feeding time is a blast to watch. They are really happy and it shows 😍

Linda came through last week's surgery well. I am in full blown houseman mode until the 9th. Zero weight to be lifted and she has intermittent stabbing pain, and aching the rest of the time, but it is getting better by the day.

Caught up on some water changes up today, this was a big job that had been neglected since last Wednesday, (that is a big gap here). Will catch the remainder tomorrow.

I’m glad to hear that Linda is progressing well. Are you a good 🧑‍🍳 cook?
Let's see ---

Friday 1-800-Domino
Sat 1-800-Pizza Hut
Sunday -- 1-800 Olive Garden
Monday -- 1-800 Panera

Actually, I am a fair cook, especially Italian. I have served Chicken Parm, Lemon Garlic Pork Chops, and Sirloin Tips in a Mushroom Sauce. Butter Noodles, Pilaf, and Baked Tater respectively. The fourth meal, Sunday, was provided by our church ladies.

Cooking is not the issue, I enjoy it. Cleaning up after, not so much.

My husband's laptop died a couple of weeks ago - he managed to break one of the hinges last year and the screen finally became disconnected from the body of the laptop. Luckily I had just enough time to copy everything to an external drive before it fell apart, then I removed and destroyed the internal drive.
Because we have had very good weather until the last day or two, he'd not got round to buying another laptop, just borrowing mine!! But today he finally bought a new one. I have spent the day setting it up for him and then transferring everything off the external drive onto the internal one. He is now happily sorting the photos he took last week which were downloaded onto the external drive via my laptop. I made him wait till he had his own laptop as I wanted mine back :)

Had physiotherapy this morning, had some tests at the hospital this afternoon and cleaned 4 tanks this evening... And now it's time to hang out on the couch and watch some movies...

Glad to hear that all the data was saved. :)

I DO have a question though... Unless the old laptop was so old that the hard drive was too small to be of any real use, why destroy instead of keeping as another external drive?

To be honest, I have no idea how I could use the SSD from that laptop as an external. It was just a small inch square thing attached to a piece of metal which was screwed down inside the laptop. I wouldn't know how to connect it up; the external we have connects with a usb cable which obviously the one from the laptop didn't do. I should have let our younger son have it as he enjoys messing around with things like that.
The last time either of us replaced an old machine they had older style hard drives - the one in mine was glass (I think?) which shattered when I dropped it after removing it. Luckily that was outside the house as there were splinters everywhere.

It took me a while today finding my way round Windows 11. My laptop and the dead one both used W10 - I got mine just before 11 was released.

By your description of the old drive it is probably hardwired and you could not use it in an external enclosure or dock.

Ya, Windows 11 has a bit of a curve after Windows 10 but it isn't really bad. Personally I wish Windows 7 was still viable.

M.2 drive?

There are adapters to USB which can be used as external drives. I know UGreen does one

If it was a M.2 drive then the laptop was not that old :) But you need to know if it is a B key or M key with SATA, PCIE or NVME interface.

Then you can easily get an external Super Speed USB enclosure for it. UGreen and Sabrent are very good inexpensive solutions.
