I spent the afternoon catching shrimps in the small tank and moving them to my main tank.

My husband has long complained about this tank being in the kitchen. Recently the tank walls have grown algae which I couldn't scrape off, the pest snails have increased in number despite only feeding the shrimps twice a week with a lot less than the bottle says (probably the algae was feeding them); the Java moss was overrun with that 'insectivorous' plant and the red root floater was struggling. The time had come to take the tank down.

'Insectivorous' plant ID thread, there was more of this than Java moss

Oh, the bread. It is so good there. On the first half of the trip we found a corner bakery in Paris that had the best cheese bread I have ever encountered. There is so much diversity in quality food places there - it really is wonderful. Through the entire trip, we walked 15 to 20km a day, so I could eat all the bread I wanted. The best local bakeries here wouldn't even make the long list there. They've done a good job of keeping local alive.

My wife and I decided to put some money aside for travel only, when we sold our house. We know the clock is ticking, so we are going to use it while we can still move it. We're hoping to continue in a pattern of 2 trips per year, since at our ages, it's no use waiting for good times to come to us. We have to create them. We aren't going to visit the US anymore, but we're casting around for our next off season adventure. So far, we've enjoyed London, Paris, Seville, Granada, Cordoba, Florence, Prague, Siena, Amsterdam, and Dublin. Any suggestions for a November trip?
I would vote for Cyprus. November is not quite off season, and the weather is still nice, the sun shines most days and the water is warm. Its tourist traps do begin closing but who needs them. The food is great and if you are at all into ancient history its a must place to visit.

The island is also reasonably close to Greece, and who doesn't want to remove Greece from their bucket list!

Just writing this makes me want to return, but after 40 years it is probably less than it was.

When I think about how quickly my one and only Ford went to the scrapyard, I can see what a Ford Tremor would be. That car used to make me shake with anger every time it broke down, and it did that a lot.
