What Ages Are The Good Folk Of Tropical Fish Forum

I cannot feel that way here Seffie. I am old but have only been on this forum for a very few years. According to my profile, I found the place in January 2008. On the other hand, my co-workers insist that I was around when they were naming things like rocks.
Mentioning this, who is the longest standing member (active) ? :shifty:

I really wish that I knew RDP. I find names that I cannot recognize when I go way back into the forum threads. We recently split the betta section into a Betta splendens section and an "non-splendens betta" section. When I chased my way through the older posts so that I could move them to the non-splendens section, I found lots of names in the older threads that I did not recognize at all. Since I spent much of my first year here in the betta section, I was a bit surprised at just how many names were not ones that I recognized. I think I went back around 6 or 7 years during that search but have no idea if any of those people are still here today. Many of us here are fairly new to the hobby. Although some of the "seasoned" members have significant experience, we do not have long years on TFF. This is mainly, as you might expect of a general forum, a forum frequented by people in the first few years of their involvement in the hobby. Many of us also hang out in much more mature groups such as the ALA site where I go for in-depth information on livebearers. I am really just a livebearer specialist who remains devoted to helping relatively new people gain the knowledge that they will need to advance in the hobby. Even admitting this much may get me in trouble with the other MODs.
I am a breeder of livebearers, and not much else. I just returned from a convention in Detroit for the American Livebearer Association where I have a hard time qualifying as an experienced member compared to the other people there. In that setting I am a relative newbie. Although I have bred a few dozen different species of livebearers, many people there make me feel that I am just starting out. Here I am very experienced compared to many people but in that setting I am the beginner. Let's face it, when you hang out with millionaires, the person who has a half million is a relative pauper. The same idea applies to livebearer experiences. I feel ready to move forward and am looked at with some skepticism by the truly experienced livebearer keepers. I must say that my own critical analysis of data available to me has indeed moved me forward in the opinions of that organization and the chairman of the board of directors of that organization has decided that I may be a person with something to contribute. I have yet to be named to a position of importance but am being considered for such recognition even as I write this.

Good luck with that! :good: I fully understand your position as holding back on the forum, I myself find that I need a new challenge and that is why I change my stock quite a lot! New challenges with new fish! Im currently trying to grow on and breed discus as well as dwarf snakeheads! Even now Im considering a big tank with larger snakeheads!

However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.
