I wouldn't....
Its nice that we can donate our money to help you raise ill, endangered fish but i'd love to know what qualifies you to be suitable for this?
Quoted from the OPs posts from today;

hi i have just bort a betta,
in the pet shop she was nice and red then in the car home she went brown.
her bag is now floating in my tank. the bottom of her body is slightley red
is she ok? ( one minnute she was red next she was brown)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
tankmates- 1 bottom catfish (hees fine)
size - around 3 gal
and not sure about parament
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I Curruntley Have An 2.5Gall Aprox Tank With 1 Male Fighter And 1 of Those Sucker Things (Plaques Or Something i Think)
i Go on holliday soon. and after my holliday i am alowed to update my tank to 10 gallon
So basicly I have all the equipment and that All i need to no is, What Fish ? What fish are best for me and how manny.

To my mind you'd need to learn alot more about fish before being suitable for looking after anything that is rare or ill.
Its nice that you feel like helping fish that are in these situations but you'd need to know alot more than you currently do to be suitable for this role.
Sorry!

I've been working on writing up content for an aquarium website in my spare time, and I must say that there is an awful lot of work and time involved with such things. Researching endangered species and environmental impact of the aquarium trade is the sort of project that should take months on it's own considering the amount of searching and "footwork" it takes to find reliable and current information. There are a lot of "incomplete" aquarium websites out there for that exact reason... it's a lot of work to keep things updated, and hence why you'll normally find more complete information on a forum site like this one where the work load is split between a ton of individuals who write articles here and there.

Thinking up a website idea is easy. Designing/coding...maybe a little harder. Getting the content written? Huge undertaking.

I would certainly read your site, but as somone else had mentioned, i dont know you. Its nothing personal but there are other fund raisers for endangers aquatic life out there that have real sponsors and a lengthy history of good work. As far as i know form your posting, you're are just a guy with a website. Good luck though, if your serious about raising endangered fish, get in contact with one of the larger organizations and see if they're looking for help. :good:

this is something I am doing as well.. I dont expect peopeto donate to me tho right off the bat as It does take a lot of research... just be prepared to have the money to care for these fish, and don't use the money people donate to u for ur own self just b/c u want a rare fish or an endangered fish or jsut because u want a new fish of some sort...!!

You should call the site, plecs need more than a 3 gal....I replied to your thread in the betta section and I dont know how credible your site would be seeing as you keep a single "bottom catfish" (which I am STILL assuming is a plec from your other posts) in a 3 gallon tank with a betta. Why would I trust you to look after endagered or injured fish with that kind of stocking

Well said.... :good: I wasn't going to say anything though...

Steady. Although I agree with you all we can't make this a bad post. The kid is 13 and trying to do something good. I agree the 'plague' shouldn't be there but that isn't for this thread.

Building your own site is not an easy job, I've been working on my site scince 2000 and am only just upto 2,000 visitors a day and 5 gig of bandwidth per month. As it's a specialist in rare livebearing fish this is good.

I pay around £100 a year for my site and thats cheep unless you go for a free site which is ok if you want to try it out.

You should lurn some basic ASP, PHP and CCS and then look into stoerinf data on a database saveing editing 100's of pages of HTML.

With my site, i just edit the default format and every page is changed, this can save a massive amount of work at a later date.

if anyone is interested in starting up a fish site, i would be more than happy to help on the coding side of things

i would be happy to help create a site that would benefit people and am a webdesigner of sorts(2nd job)

database and graphic design also available ;)
