Just wondering what size tank these would need and how is best to keep them, how many, tank decor, salinity etc.

Thanks.

Hello Minnnt,
sorry not to be able to help... Lovely fish, looking forward to read from someone more experienced. I believe you know Neal Monk's page

I had one for a while but couldn't really say because I had him housed at low salinity with inappropriate tank mates and his death could of been any number of things. I suspect they will do best in mid-high salinity. I never really got him to eat anything other than live foods either. There was a Waspfish journal on here a little while ago so it may come up if you do a quick search.

hello mate

I kept these years back when I kept bracksih. They are great little fish bags of predator charactor for something so small

Mine were in a 30x 12 x14 theres probably pics on the forum of mine.I found them easy to keep and feed etc

Thanks for your input, very helpful indeed. What kind of salinity did you keep them at and what should they be kept at?

Are they pretty active then Si? How many did you keep in that sized tank and at what salinity? Will have a search and see how i get on. :)

I kept mine predominantly around SG1.005@25DegC with the odd variation between SG1.003 and SG1.008. He lived for a year or so and it could have been the low SG, poor diet (biggest suspect), Figure 8 (no aggression before or after), or halbeak (showed aggression but would retreat once he got below halfway).

If I decided to set up another tank for one I would keep it at SG1.010+ at 25DegC with a few of it's own kind and maybe some small peacefull mid-water swimmers.

Such as what though? Would they not be at risk from the Wasp Fish?

Thanks for the info. :)

hello mate
i cant remember what salinity it was it was years back, I know I had my toadfish and morays in a high salinity but not sure what the smaller tank was like. The two I kep were really active, they sort of waft round the tank like a leaf on the wind, quite an uncomfortable swimming style and I fed things like frozen brine and there eating was amusing as they pounced on the food as if hunting it, they were spot on fish

Nice. Will have to do some more reasearch into them and see what they entale. Definately a fish i want to keep in the future... Very interesting indeed.

I've no idea to be honest I'd have to research peaceful mid-high salinity fish. My waspfish was really placid with other fish and if a tankmate was too large to fit in its mouth then it would be fine so my worry would be the big flappy fins looking tempting to others.

I do not often say this about fish, but I do not like their looks at all. In fact, they even look uglier than some of my ex girlfriends !!!
