Urgent Plz Help!

How are things going? Did you find someone to get the tanks sorted out?

wow. thats all I can really say. Im glad that I found someone to come and help me, but Im amazed at the cost they charged. It took almost 7 hours to restore the tanks, and he said something about the picko nuking....still havent figured that out yet. The planted tanks he said we close to self filtering, and the marine he got to in time to keep the damage to a min. She lost some corals and some inverts (?) what are they??
He is coming back in a few days to check levels and to feed he said. He says some of the fish cant not be feed, so he found stuff in the freezer and he color coded all the food and the tanks.

Oh...and what does he mean about the nuking? he looked at the little cube and said not to touch it to just leave it be...does that mean its all dead? and whats the difference between an established tank and a non established one? he was taking apart all these buckets and tubs and moving everything around i was so confused.....

inverts are invertebrates so things like shrimps and snails and stuff, things without a backbone. an established tank is one that has been cycled i think (i'm prbably wrong), which basically means that there's good bacteria in the water. as for nuking, i have absolutely no idea :S and i really hope your friend gets better soon. i'm sure she's in all our thoughts.

Hope your friend gets better did you say she is expecting too? I do hope everything works out ok...
I always wondered about those scorpionfish! Regarding the word 'nuking', I have always used the term to describe something as being knackered. Not sure what a Picko is though!

maybe i spelled picko wrong....thats just how it sounded when he said it....
Yes Sakura is expecting...weve been yelling at her to stop messing around carrying all those buckets of water but does she listen? lol

oh just one more question for now....a big box just came in the mail saying live fish and another one of live plants. I remember someone here saying when the fish are shipped they are good in the bags for days...so should I leave the box alone? Or should I open it and see whats in there? the boxes are from taiwan if that makes a difference...

the plants should be safe to put in the tank with the other plants, right? if I just throw them in there till she gets better? But will the fish be ok in there till that guy comes back on Mon?

float bags in tank at the moment

can u take pics or identify fish which have come??

the invoice says 4 red bellied pacu, 1 halfmoon betta, 1 inca snail, 1 goldnugget pleco.
The plants say hornwort, cambamba, java moss, java fern,

I hope when she gets better she realizes exactly how much i love her......this is horrible!

You'd better open the boxes. The plants will be just fine chucked into the planted tank but the fish have already been in their bags for days presumably. There should be a packing slip in the box with the fish telling you what is inside. Report back here and we can try to help you figure out where to put them.

update....i went in the basement and found two large tanks that are empty with water in them...no gravel or sand or anything in them except water ....could they go in there? at least for now?

Are you able to talk to Sakura to find out if they are cycled or not (if they do not have fish in them they most likely are not)? How large are the tanks? Freshwater or saltwater? Are they filtered?

Sakura isnt coherent enough to remember the fish she bought much where they go. The one tank is about 3 feet long, the other about 2. They have tubes running into the cabinents, and the water is flowing, so im assuming yes they are filtered. And no, the water doesnt taste salty....(can you get any diseases from the fishwater??? do i need a tetnus shot now?)

Is there a way to figure out if they are cycled or not? Id think Sakura would never buy fish that she had no where to put...and these are the only empty tanks that ive found so farwith water in them...the rest are really empty...

can you tell me what cycling is? maybe i can do it real quick? i mean, I have all her equiptment here, so it shouldnt be that hard right?

Yikes, tough situation to be in. Anaphylactic reactions to things in marine tanks can be really nasty, hope Sakura ends up being OK. As mentioned, some pics of the situation would really help a lot...

And In case I missed it being explained in here, the term "nuking" generally refers to the tank being a total loss, and the term Pico usually refers to a very small tank (5 gal or less in capacity). Good luck

Cycling takes a month or more. It is the building up of bacteria for biological filtration. Does she have a test kit handy?

Do you mean the api master test kit? yes theres a freshwater one and a salt water one. i should use the freshwater one? just follow the directions on the bottle?
