Tyler's 29Gal. Tank Project!

I currently have 1 powerhead and the canister filter (probably 200 gph?). The powerhead I have now is a Koralia Nano 425 gph. If I remove the Canister filter I lose the flow it provides and will put in another Koralia Nano 425. This should give me well over 20X turnover in the tank I am thinking of also getting the even smaller nano to put in the back and aim up to keep the surface water moving to allow gas exchange.

Depending on where you eventually want to go with your reef, over 20x isn't a bad thing, Tyler.

It's funny because I have a 425 in both my 36g and my 8g. The planted tank doesn't need as much flow, the 8g is overloaded with it. I think the better circulation really helps the pico and it's probably part of the reason why I've gotten away with murder in that little tank. That, the refugium, and water changes like a mad woman.

That's a nice light! Sheesh, makes my metal halide look ghetto.

LOL. It was up on ebay for a while, then disappeared (got bumbed out). As soon as I saw it a couple days ago I jumped on it right away. The bulbs if bought individually cost more than the entire price I just paid. I can't wait until it arrives and I get to post pictures with the new light! I have not had actinic's or LED's on the aquarium at all.

Ok. So I went to the LFS to get another powerhead, which I got! I got the flow kind of where I want it. I will probably move it a few times im sure. I have taken the HOB canister filter OFF of the tank completely. I now have two koralia nanos doing 450GPH which is like 30X turnover? Doesn't at all seem like its that much with them running.

BUT.... I also fell into the lovely world of temptation, and got these..... sry for crappy photo, they swim... lol

PICT0014.jpg

I did a water change before I went to the LFS, as it was due for one, and acclimated them in with 15 minutes floating and about 30 minutes drip acclimation. My blue chromis is SO SO SO SO interested in them and is swimming right with the two clowns everywhere! Its cute. Also when I chose these two out of the several in the tank, they were swimming together the whole time. One is bigger, one is smaller. But they seem happy together, so of course I couldn't leave them at the LFS. They are looking pretty happy in the tank and exploring slowly.

Only a 30 min drip? I do my fish drips for almost 2-3 hours...

But they are clowns, so they should be ok. They are purty.

Your sand looks super clean. :good:

I have done everything at 30 minutes. I do not have a HOB container for them. The temperature starts to drop in my small container and get cold. This morning they are what appears to be sleeping/swimming sideways near surface.Interesting. lol But they are certainly alive.

Nevermind, I live in a semi-tropical place. Temp doesn't dip low much.

:look:

LOL. Its cool here, inside still its not a lot of water so it just cools down... even when the bag has floated and temp matches, it usually drops 4-5 degrees before drip acclimating is done... Just trying to not shock them too much. They are so pretttttty. The significant other fell in love with them, especially the one that is misbarred (smaller one). So much fun. My light is getting shipped finally today. Stupid E-checks on paypal take forever. I will use credit card from now on lol. Should have light this weekend or first part of next week. Pictures will be a must!

Did an ammonia test just to make sure we are good...

Ammonia: 0ppm =)

Fed the tank for the first time since clowns have gone in, they played with and finally ate a couple pellets, and like the brine shrimp too. So I am glad they are eating =)

The chromis is still not without great amounts of interest! He occasionally pecks, but doesn't really peck, kind of a fakey peck... so no ego wars, yet... lol

They are so adorable =)

Awwwww, I'm not a huge fan of clowns, but even I have to admit that they are cute.
