thank you! I got a video of them all last night. I've just uploaded it to photobucket. Have a squizz if you want. Maybe you can sex em better than I can
oh and ignore the background music. I've become obcessed with Absolute 80's radio. I'm just a sad old goth ... I have no other excuse lol
I didn't hear the music , speakers were turned off on the laptop
Wow they are super active , definately breeding mode , from what i could make out 2 males & 2 females, but unsure if i was seeing the same corys , you have a lighter coloured bronze, pretty sure its male, you certainly have 2 chunky females.
I've noticed with my albino & bronze that the females do tend to sit higher up - their bellys are more rounded especially when they are full of eggs, whereas the males have flatter bellies - if you know what i mean
Meant to say - looks like you guppy is ready to pop a few fry out, bless
the lighter bronze is the new one that I just got. They all started out that colour and they seem to darken over time - I think I read that they try to blend into the substrate. Which would explain why mine are so dark.
The really silvery peppered that's following them around is the other new one. I'm hoping that's male too. It's really hard to sex my peppered as they're shyer than my bronzes and I don't see them as much. I think the other 3 are female but I'm really not certain!!
From what you are saying though I am sexing them quite well as I thought the bronzes were as you said - maybe I need to have more confidence in myself!!
So you think they're in breeding mode aswell . They've had bloodworms again tonight but they've been less active. Maybe they're waiting until I turn the light out!
RE- the guppy - bloody thing. She only dropped some a couple of weeks ago and yes, she looks ready to drop again .
UPDATE:
well I've been watching some seriously active cories for the last week or so. I've run out of bloodworm but I'm getting so more tomorrow hopefully.
I've been adding extra pellets in a morning and they are getting fatter and more active. I'm still hoping to find eggs, especially as I've been reading posts from those that's got them without trying!
One of my peppered has got really big - I think it's a female as it's largest by far. The high fin peppered is confusing me. Somedays I think it's female then it goes and sit next to this really big one and is dwarfed in size and I decide it's male instead.
The hi-fin one was from the first batch of 3 that I got even before this new tank (last year) it must be over a year old now so it probably is male given it's size.
The 4 bronzes are chasing daily now. No T-positioning yet though
I think they've layed 2 eggs (I posted in the the discussion section with a couple of pictures but got told they was rubbish)
I'll re-describe what I found -
I spotted 2 almost white dots on the glass behind my thermometer. I quickly tried to get a picture before a guppy or platy ate them but it came out blurry.
I went to remove them from the glass and they wern't sticky at all - they were hardened. They came off easily enough but they tried to float out of my hand. I managed to get them into a plastic pot that I use for defrosting food and got another photo
Again, not a great photo but you can make out the 2 yellowish blobs
I've put my breeding net into my fry tank and tipped them in there. It's in the full flow of the filter. I'm wondering now if that was the best idea but couldn't think of anything better there and then.
What do you think? Could they be cory eggs? I've got a feeling I'm got a male and female Oto so it could be them also
they are a solid yellow colour - can't see no black dot though - then I didn't look that closely (too excited!)
I didn't see them when I got up but I'm not so well at the moment and that could be why I never noticed them. The cories have been really active lately - both the bronze and the peppered and they have gained weight so my attempts to condition them may have paid off.
I'm so excited Harlequins ... I've been waiting for this for months and having one disappointment after another. Even if this attempt doesn't work out at least I know they are trying to breed and it will happen eventually. I'm sorely tempted to get another small tank now just for cory eggs. Keeping them in the breeding net in the tiny fry tank isn't an ideal situation
