Trying To Breed My Cories

well as the substrate is a black pebble I'm not going to see them for a while now. They're just too tiny to see. There's snails in there and platy fry so they'll be living on what ever food makes it to the bottom of the tank.

I've just decided I can't do any more for them. I've tried special treatment and it doesn't seem to work so treating them the same as my platy fry (which I rarely lose any of) may just be the way :/

They'll probably do fine & in a few weeks you'll be seeing them whiz round the tank, don't forget the pics when the do :)

well as suspected any surviving cory fry have disappeared. I've not seen any of them since I set them free so I have no idea if they are alive or dead. I'm still changing 50% of the water daily at the moment and there's a piece of stocking over the filter to protect them - I can only presume they are alive in there somewhere!

As for the adults ... no more spawning to be seen just yet. Guess I gotta be patient

I'm sure some will have survived. One day you'll look at your tank & see miniature corys shuffling around :)

that would be nice but at the moment there's still no sign of them at all - too small to be seen I guess. That's if that've survived.

I'm very tempted today to go buy more cories but I'll have to see what cash I've got left once the bills have been paid

I've just been forced to do a gravel vac on the fry tank as it was pretty yukky so I had to empty it of rocks and plants so I could see where the fry were.

I can say that at no point did I see or suck up any cory fry what-so-ever.

This leads me to believe they no longer exist

I'm really not sure if I'll have another go just yet. I don't think cory breeding is for me

i think its time to just leave the eggs where you find them and let nature take its course. thats what i plan to do anyways.

good luck though, dont let it get you down :D

feeling a bit more positive now.

They've had a double dose of blood worms tonight and currently my bronze cories are going insane!!

Hoping for eggs by morning :D

omg. Your are as crazy as me. If you keep eggs again....OMG BE CALM. DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP! lol

You haven't seen my threads where I am a total loser.

lol - its certainly taking its toll - keep positive - sooner or later they will reward you for your efforts

if they lay anymore I'm gonna stick the eggs to the side of my plastic floating trap in the fry tank in the direct flow of the filter and leave them alone.
If they hatch they can get out of the trap if and when they want. Food will flow through the slots for any that stay inside the trap.
I'll carry on with the water changes daily and what will be will be.

If I've learned anything in these last few weeks/months - however long this thread has been running - it's that my cories are a law unto themselves. They spawn when they want to - no amount of prompting will force them. They hide eggs and even when I see eggs and try to keep them by removing them they either don't hatch, go furry, or once hatched die within days!

Nature is very trying and that's been the lesson in all this.

Not wanting to speak too soon but my peppered boys and girls look like they might be getting ready to spawn again. One of the females (the one that had the 17 eggs last time) has spent the last two evenings wriggling around in the corner near the top again and the males are very interested in both the females.

I'll keep you all posted :)

Good luck, hope you have some success this time.
