Trilineatus Cories Just Keep Spawning...

Hi Frank

In the fry tank,it had no light in has such,it is sat on the kitchen table,so just normal daylight during the day.

Hi Harlequins :)

Is the temperature in their tanks stable? I have some tanks in my kitchen too and have noticed that the room heats up when I'm cooking. With an electric stove the burners throw heat even after they are turned off so I always have to use the exhaust fan even if it's just to boil a cup of water for coffee. I've had to move the fry out of there while I was doing some Christmas baking to avoid overheating them.

Hi inchworm

The tank appears to be a steady 24 degrees, although i did notice the tank was a little warm when i done a w/c a few weeks ago.but the thermometer still said 24 so unsure

Hi Harlequins :)

At this point you will be tinkering with their conditions so you might try lowering the temperature a bit. According to PlanetCatfish, they do well between 16-25C (60.8-77F.) so you are keeping them near the high end of their range.

As a rule, warmer water speeds up their metabolisms and will cause them to eat more and grow faster. I'm not sure if it will have any short term negative effects, but it might be worth looking into.

Thanks inchworm :)

I will slowly turn the heater down to see if it makes a difference :good:

Update lost 2 more wee fry today ,but i had all 12 hatch yesterday and managed to save 4 eggs before they all got munched

I think on rough count there's about 30 fry with the new ones as well

Thanks Amy :)

There's no ammonia/nitrite showing in the tank,i clean up after feeds,i just can't seem to keep them going, another 2 gone this morning

Always seem to be the older ones  ,o well i'll keep at it trying my best...

It's just natural selection my love.
If they die, it's horrible yes, but atleast it weeds out the weaker ones. If you kept the weaker ones alive and they reproduce, who knows what disabilities they might have.
I'm sorry to hear you're losing fry, but it might be time to consider that they are just the runts of the litter, right them off as natural selection and don't let it bother you.
If you let every fry death get to you, it will consume you, trust me.

Keep doing what you're doing, you're doing everything correctly, I would possibly say, do a very small treatment of anti-fungus, literally enough to treat 10% of the tank.

Update- more eggs found 4 so far and they're still at it...
also found 2 eggs from last spawn, think they're due to hatch pretty soon...
