Trilineatus Cories Just Keep Spawning...

Arrrggghhh!! no matter what w/c and cleaning up and feeding minimal food i do,i'm still losing fry

I've gone down to 24 fry,i'm failing my wee fry

Now i've got nitrite back in the tank, how come? i'm feeding less and cleaning up after them!!

I've put them in a trap in the main tank for tonight to see if i can sort this filter out tomorrow!

Oh hon, you arent failing them! Something weird is going on, hope doing ok in the trap (mine are doing much better in the trap)

Thanks amy,

well they seem to be ok in the trap at the moment with no losses so far(touch wood),

i'm just wondering if the filter is playing up?

I think i will leave them out of the fry tank for the next few days, just to see if it makes a difference, maybe put them in when they're a bit bigger.

I'm just waiting for the 14 eggs to hatch in the fry tank then sort the tank out.

Update eggs have started to hatch :)

Plus i've just retrieved 10 more from the tank

Thanks :)

Well 13 of the eggs hatched,i'm sure i had 14,unless i miscounted the fry when transferring them over

Little update-
I know its not ideal, but i have the cory fry floating in 3 traps (2 older ones on their own,22 fry 1-2 wks old and trap 3- 13x day old fry)in my main tank for 2 days, and so far haven't had a death :),
There must be an issue with the fry tank i had them in? all i can think of is the filter?

So now i'm not sure what to do,i have stripped down the fry tank yet again,do i wait until they're older and try the fry tank again,i can't keep all these in traps for too long. Hmmm...

How much light are your fry getting? The less direct light the better. Just thought I'd throw that out as most people tend to keep enough light on their tanks to land helicopters. lol. - Frank

Hi Frank

In the fry tank,it had no light in has such,it is sat on the kitchen table,so just normal daylight during the day.

I know- i'm gutted
Don't let it get you down. It's part of the learning curve and it happens to everyone. Believe me. Experimentation is the name of the game and what works for someone else may lead to disaster, for you. Just keep at it. I know that losses can be heartbreaking, but they are always going to be part of the process and no matter how long you do this, that will be a constant. - Frank

Thanks Frank,i just feel i'm doing something wrong...suppose i'm not destined to have fry reach adulthood just yet ,

But i will keep at it the best i can...
