Today's a new day.

Hi @AdoraBelle Dearheart. I told you yesterday that I did the water change with my carer, but you didn't reply. :(

The parents don't want me to push my hobbies further because of house rules. This makes me angry that they won't let me do my fishkeeping hobby despite there literally is a 10L 22cm cube tank sitting near my 41L tank right now. I do have spare gravel I can use for the project. But the rest (dragonstone, root tabs, plants, etc.) needs to be purchased. And parents won't let me do that because I broke some rule in the household. Grr...

I need some time and patience, but the parents prevent me from doing that.

It's the afternoon and dad is going to nap in the living room. I am busy trying to get advice from this thread. Everything's okay at the moment and the twin brother hurt his back while working at a theme park serving food to customers. The arguments went away an hour ago. Mum is at work and dad's at home.

Currently on Scape It and thinking of ideas for other projects. After that, I'm caring for the tetras. Fed them in the morning, will feed them again at the evening. I need ideas for any future Petworx tanks. I'm currently focusing on collecting all the Petworx nano tanks (except the 60cm long one). I got two out of the four tanks now. Just need the 90L 45cm cube and 27L 30cm cube, then the collection will be complete. But first, I have to follow the house rules in order to get them. I'm still interested in the 10L shrimp tank though.

Sorry I hadn't replied sooner - do remember I warned you though that I'm dealing with the deaths of my parents, so rather busy, but I am willing to try to help out when and where I can. :)

So how did the water change go? What method did you use? Did you gravel vac the substrate? How much of the water, roughly, did you remove and replace?

Good. The carer did help with me and dad helped me for pouring new water in. Gravel vac was the method. We gravel vac-ed together. Probably 50-60% of the old water is removed. I understand that you're busy.

That's great! Was it easier than you thought? How does your dad put the water back in the tank?

Does he move the whole tank in order to do the water change?

Does the tank look better/fish look happier?

Dad poured some new water with the 10L jugs. No, he didn't move the whole tank. The tank looked better but the tetras are still in one corner. I made the mistake to putting them in a 41L with 30cm swimming space when I was diving into the hobby last year. Hopefully that will change in the future with a bigger tank.

It's the evening and I just fed the tetras for the second time. Went bushwalking earlier with dad and still thinking of ideas for the other two Petworx nano tanks (30cm cube and 45cm cube). Does anyone have ideas for the two future Petworx tanks? I have the 41L and 10L currently, but wanting to get the 27L and 90L too.

What are some good advice for planning for two new Petworx aquariums, @Colin_T and others? I need to plan effectively after the 10 litre is complete.

I’d just stick to what you have for now if I was you :)

When the 25th (Thursday) hits, one more day until Australia Day (Friday 26th). I think I remember seeing the last Skyworks in Perth before it was defunct and replaced by drone shows. I don't know if fish are scared of fireworks like dogs... I'm going to focus on my hobby this Australia Day instead of sausage sizzles and other celebrations.

Tomorrow is a new day...

If you can go out and celebrate Australia Day, do it. You can see your fish every day but celebrating Australia Day can only happen once a year and there are a lot of people who want to get rid of it completely. So enjoy it while it lasts.

Where did you go bushwalking and what did you see?

Blue Gum Lake and I didn't see anything. I hear birds, but didn't see anything. There is a dirt path that goes to part of the lake. Dad and I go bushwalking every day now.

Today's Thursday. One more day until Australia Day. Indeed, I woke up just in time for a TV show I like to watch. I will celebrate Australia Day despite people going against it. About to feed the tetras and will look after them. I am more active in the thread because it's a diary on myself and my fish.

Bushwalking in the early evening is good for me. I can connect with the bush by going bushwalking. Hearing stuff, but not actually seeing stuff. Bushwalking is the Australian Dream.

Watching some videos on aquarium plants so I can focus researching them. @Seisage and @AdoraBelle Dearheart, thanks for helping out. I understand that you're busy today. I'm focusing on my fish and the project at the same time. I know how advice works now. I am trying to be a good person and I need to know about doing constant research on plants. I need some time and patience from mum and dad. An understanding of new stuff on the hobby will work out for me hopefully.

The time has come for me. Patience is a good thing in the hobby and I understand earlier comments now. 'Patience, young grasshopper'. I like that comment. I am recovering from stress caused by parent arguments against me. The 41L is doing fine a few days after the water change. I'm a proud fishkeeper and waiting to become a shrimp keeper too. The people has called for me. I am happy to get advice from you people.

Keep up the good work, Elephant! I'm already proud of the progress you've made, even in the short time since you first posted this thread. I know you've been interested in live plants lately. If you can't set up the 10L, maybe you can look for some plants for the 41L. I'm sure your cardinal tetras would appreciate it. Just don't forget to keep working on your tank maintenance skills ;)
