They've Spawned!!!!

Wow Inchworm!!!
They are so cute and the cleaness of your fry rearing tank really does put me to shame!
I dont know how you manage to keep it so perfect!
When the eggs were just laid and the parents were removed the tank floor was spotless and now there is some kind of brown fluffy stuff on the floor. Im doing two 10% water changes a day although i am very careful not to suck up any fry i can only ever manage to move about 20% of the stuff. I dont knoew where it has come from or what it is but it doesnt seem to be doing any harm.
They are really cute cories and their colour is already amazing! I really wish you lived in the UK because one day ill have my own fishroom full of Cory fry and we'd be trading non-stop :X :D

Wonderful! They are darlin'! You do good work.

I see your yellow pretty boy too :D What a perfect tail he has--wonderful symmetry.

Hi Siamese Fighter05 :)

My little fry were just hatched, in that picture and haven't had a chance to mess up their tank yet, but like all kids, they will in time. It's important to clean up after them though. That nasty stuff is a combination of their wastes and uneaten food and left in there could result in disease. It's full of microorganisms that they will eat at first, but it can quickly build up and become dangerous.

I remove it by rubbing on it, either with my hand or with one of those plastic scrubber pads that you can get cheap in a dollar store. The lfs will sell a similar thing to clean up algae, but they charge much more. It will come off and mix with the water and then you can do water changes to get rid of it. If any big pieces come loose, just net them out.

Believe me, it's worth the trouble to keep a fry tank clean! :D

Yes, she does. It's too bad she didn't live closer; I'd send her one.

Here's a hint: the panda is almost dead center in one of the pictures. But, I didn't even notice it myself until some time after the picture was posted. :look:

just in the process of cleaning the tank i'm going to use for corys now so hopefully in a couple of week i will be able to get some fry (everything crossed) :hyper:

Hi trace1 :)

You must have an excellent lfs to shop at. Either that, or there are a lot of people in your neighborhood who like corys. The black ones are unusual, but who knows, you might just get lucky and he can order them for you.

In the meanwhile, I'll be hoping your corys spawn for you. It's so nice to watch them grow up. :D

That is very nice. The LFS's around here do not keep any really rare cories. They say most people are not willing to pay that much for a cory. I have never seen the Black C. Aeneus until I saw this thread. Hopefully I can get some of this latest batch from Inchworm.

Part of the fun of collecting corys is trying to find them. ;)

I've spent countless hours watching AquaBid and visiting different lfs to find the ones I have. In the process I've met and enjoyed talking to a lot of different people and learned a lot about keeping fish. If the whole thing wasn't fun, I probably wouldn't do it.

You are most likely to find interesting corys if you can locate a good lfs where they import their fish directly from South America. This will most likely be an independent store, not a chain. It helps to go there often and get to know the owner and let him know what you are looking for. Of course, they are limited to buying the kind of fish their distributor there offers, but it's your best chance except for being lucky at an auction. :D

I agree. If it were not so hard to find them, it would not be near as fun. It makes it more pleasing when you find some you have been searching for a long time. Definately makes it worth while.
